A lawyer from Alabama has decided not to speak at a Tea Party rally in Wausau next Thursday, after organizers questioned his views on white supremacy. Attorney John Eidsmoe was planning to speak along with former State Supreme Court candidate Randy Koschnick and others at one of many Tea Party rallies on the April 15th deadline for filing tax returns. But Koschnick questioned Eidsmoe’s credentials after learning about his background from the Associated Press. HAMILTON, Bermuda (AP) — Hurricane Bill, with winds whipping at 100 miles an hour, is prompting warnings for parts of Canada and the U.S. eastern coastline. The storm has swept by Bermuda, triggering flooding, cutting power to thousands and shutting down the island's airport. There have been no reports of casualties. The Category 2 storm is expected to slip through the Atlantic past Massachusetts on its way north later tonight. Authorities have issued a tropical storm warning for the state's coast, which includes President Barack Obama's planned vacation spot of Martha's Vineyard.

Through most of the summer, opposition to President Obama and his health-care initiative has come almost entirely from the right. In the past week, however, the president has been trying to tamp down a noisy uprising on the left. The immediate cause for the rebellion is growing concern among Obama's progressive allies that he is prepared to deal away the public insurance option to win passage of a health-care bill. House Democratic leaders said Monday that they will not force the Pentagon to buy four new passenger jets used to ferry senior government officials. Democrats have been criticized for adding $330 million to the Air Force's 2010 budget to buy the jets even though the Pentagon didn't request the money. Two of the planes would be the C-37 — the military equivalent to the fancy Gulfstream 550 — and cost taxpayers $130 million at a time when lawmakers have made villains of bailed-out auto executives who rely on corporate jets to travel.

The Democratic Party seems to have placed itself on the fast track to oblivion. As public rejection of Obama-care increases, our Democratic representatives are slinking into their shells, just like that fatal character who places her fingers in her ears and chants, "la la la." Worse than that, our representatives are now attempting to convince themselves that the opposition is actually some type of conspiracy; that the insurance and pharmaceutical companies have paid off some vast numbers of Americans, or that they all march to the drum of the Republican Party.
