Officers checking possible SC killer link in Gastonia shooting

North Carolina police officer has been wounded and a suspect killed during a confrontation after the officer responded to a burglary call South Carolina law enforcement agencies have been called to the scene because of a possible connection to the five killings that have occurred in Cherokee County recently.

Multiple media outlets reported that the confrontation happened about 3 a.m. Monday in Gaston County, west of Charlotte.

Police say three officers responded to a call about a possible burglary in progress and officers found three suspects inside a home. One suspect fired and wounded the officer in the leg and police shot and killed the suspect. The other two suspects were arrested.
