The Florida Rules of Civil Procedure allow a deposition to be taken prior to a civil action actually being filed. Filing and serving this on Terri, and asking the court for an order inserting the tube so as allow the witness to live in order for the deposition, may be a last, best hope. It's clear Jeb isn't going to do anything. You'll have to come up with a cause of action.

Truth and Consequences Thursday, Sep 02, 2004; 12:55 PM NEW YORK -- What should the press do when a convention speaker stands up and hurls charges that are somewhere between exaggerated and false? It's a party gathering, after all, and red-meat rhetoric is always on the menu. "Our opponents will take the economy into the toilet, fail to protect America and bore everyone to death for the next four years." That sort of thing. You get plenty of political license. But isn't it part of the journalistic mission to provide a reality check? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/nation/columns/kurtzhoward/

For about the first time in my life I saw an infomercial for a product I think might be useful. Trouble is, I had to run somewhere before I could write down the title and now I've forgotten it, so I can't look it up on the net. Has anyone seen this product that looks like one of those chef tool french fry makers. It has a lever and has interchangable cutting blades. It can be used to cut and core fruit, cut eggs, potatoes, and even with certain attachments, works as a juicer.I know, I know, buying stuff from ...

I just installed 2000 over the weekend as an upgrade over NT. No real problems (minor modem trouble, fixed, and irritating settings and sounds, fixed) except that the computer will not restart. Yes, I can reset it with the button on the box, but the OS won't auto restart the system. It shuts down, then I get an aqua/green screen that stays there indefinitely. What can I do?

I have a fairly decent camcorder with which I want to do some filming and editing of various things. One question that has come to mind is the glossy finish (if you will) of the video vs. the film. To me it's like the gloss pictures you get back from the photo lab vs. the matte finished pics. Anyway, is there a program (i.e. Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.) out there that takes video captured and "removes" the gloss so it looks like film? Is this something higher end cameras (camcorders) are able to do? Any help from you video ...

Sorry for the vanity, but I saw the funny cartoon this morning at work: the guy on the camel yelling holy war, then when chased by a b-whatever yelling holy &%$#. Anyone have a link to that post or the cartoon itself?

Haven't really found the exact answer on newsgroups so I thought I would post here for some of you mountain men (and women). I have been skiing twice: once in Spring of '99, and again late in 2000. I didn't really care for it either time. I have several problems: first, stopping. I can ski fine, and my technique is fine. I don't fall, but I don't trust myself to stop well enough that anytime I start going with any rate of speed, I get into a wedge (snowplow) to slow down. This keeps me in control, but tires me ...

With NCAA football just 2 months away, I'm starting to get excited. It's the only sport I watch regularly anymore. Except for a little hockey and other college sports, I stay away from the pros. However, there is a lot the NCAA needs to change. I haven't got any other views on some ideas I have for the changes, so I thought I'd run them up the flagpole here for college sports fans, not just football fans. The NCAA should change their rules and force all non-conference football games to be 2 year agreements for home and home. The agreements ...

Early voting started today in Texas. I voted around noon today, and had to wait about 6-8 minutes as there were 10 or so people ahead of me. When I got into the booths, there were about 10 of those and they were all full as well. Finally, when I left, the line was as long as when I got into it. The election judge said it had been heavy all day long.

Trial Lawyers See Politics at Play in Money-for-Veto Story Republicans Question Integrity of Clinton and Gore By MARY ALICE ROBBINS Texas Lawyer Sept. 20, 2000 Accusations that Democrats linked a fund-raising effort in late 1995 to President Clinton’s veto of tort reform legislation the following spring are "old news," say three Texas trial lawyers named on telephone call sheets prepared by the Democratic National Committee for use in the solicitation. "It’s just a Republican gimmick in an election year," says Walter Umphrey, a partner in Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont and one of five lawyers awarded $3.3 billion ...

OK, so the polling orgs. are basing their polls on a percentage of samples, say, 40% Dem. and Rep. and 20% independent voters. But if GOP voter turnout was low in 1996 (which it was, and probably in 1992 as well), doesn't that invalidate the samples as being automatically biased in favor of democrats? I think all polls are overstating democrats anyway, but even if they readjusted the percentages to take into account recent elections, they may still vastly understate the Republican score. This means that we need to do everything we can to get GOPers to the polls and ...

Let's get some ideas going here: I worked in 2 elections the past two cycles and none this time. Living in Texas, there's no sense in campaigning for Bush here since he'll get about 70% of the vote. What can those of us that live in Texas (and other safe Bush states) do to get the numbers up in other states?
