I just got back to the Philly burbs from around Camp Lejeune and as usual turned on the only country station available. Two seconds later it was off. Well, I went online and found a great station and wanted to share it with y'all. I'm a bookmark hoarder so I thought I'd ask for your help for when I need to listen to some good stuff. OutlawNation has a perfect variety.

WAMU’s Bluegrass Country History and Origins From 1967 through today, WAMU has been a proud supporter of bluegrass music and its culture, which has been part of the Washington region for many years. A large migration from Appalachia occurred during the 1940s, making Washington the capital of a blossoming bluegrass music scene. Bluegrass became a defining sound for many in the area and, by the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, was a hotbed for musicians such as Buzz Busby, Leon Morris, The Country Gentlemen, and later, the Seldom Scene and Johnson Mountain Boys. Bluegrass music had a limited presence on commercial...

Ralph Stanley, a patriarch of Appalachian music who with his brother Carter helped expand and popularize the genre that became known as bluegrass, died Thursday. He was 89. Stanley died at his home in Sandy Ridge, Virginia, because of difficulties from skin cancer, publicist Kirt Webster said. Stanley was born and raised in Big Spraddle, Virginia, a land of coal mines and deep forests where he and his brother formed the Stanley Brothers and their Clinch Mountain Boys in 1946. Their father would sing them old traditional songs like "Man of Constant Sorrow," while their mother, a banjo player, taught...

This random, motley set of Josh with Lester and Earl is for the true Josh junkie. Sound and image quality varies, because even the best '50s sources lack HD quality -- so, no apologies! The playing is topnotch, IMHO. A few songs don't have Josh on Dobro. Either he was "simply" playing fills, or he was playing bass. Regardless, he was always a joy to hear, or see.
