Up to 2,100 refugees in Calais and Dunkirk are facing an imminent coronavirus lockdown by French authorities, with many saying they will try to reach the UK rather than go to accommodation centres if their camps are cleared. Buses will be sent to the camps to transfer refugees to centres housing up to 100 people from Tuesday. The transfers are said to be voluntary but some of the refugees told the Guardian that they distrust the police and are fearful of being forced into the centres, so plan to run away and continue in their attempts to cross the Channel.

On March 6th, a video was shared on social media showing Turkish security forces use an armored vehicle, with a rope to pull down the fence at the Greek border and allow migrants to pass. This is yet another act of war. How can anyone seriously think that these “refugees,” fresh from throwing Molotov cocktails at Greek police, will pass peacefully into Europe and become loyal citizens of secular states? In the face of this invasion, however, we have the usual complacency and Leftist idiocy: “Greece has announced that it would not accept any asylum applications for one month. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees criticized their decision.” “Greece: Migrants attack border police with firebombs, Turkish police help,” by Michael Lord, Voice of Europe, March 12, 2020....

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned on Monday that "millions" of migrants would soon head for Europe, drawing accusations from EU leaders that he is trying to pressure them into backing his incursions into Syria. Turkey gave the green light to refugees and migrants on Friday to leave for the European Union and thousands have since massed at the Greek border, triggering fears of an influx like that which poisoned European politics in 2015.

By the summer of last year, Glasgow had the highest number of housed refugees in the UK with almost 10% of the "asylum seekers" setting up shop in the Scottish city. The overflow of refugees, many of them from Pakistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan, has brought in government money, but also violence and crime. Refugees whose requests for asylum are rejected refuse to leave and remain on in Glasgow. Glasgow had been eager to cash in on asylum seekers, and in the last two decades was fundamentally transformed by the tide of migrants filling up its neighborhoods. As Pakistanis became the...

TACUN UMAN, Guatemala – Chanting “Hon-dur-as! Hon-dur-as! Hon-dur-as!” hundreds of migrants from the first U.S.-bound caravan of 2020 last week showed up at the Puente Rodolfo Robles International bridge in this violent smuggler’s town on Guatemala’s northwestern border with Mexico, always a symbolic turnstile to the American goal line. Mexican officials on the other side had let the hundreds of caravan migrants stacking up here by the hour know they would be allowed to cross in the morning. But visible excitement went negative, then dissipated into disbelief, as I explained to a dozen young male migrants surrounding me of the...

The goal is to reduce the burden of Central American migrant caravans arriving at the U.S. border. Migrants are being returned to Guatemala, sent back to their home country, or allowed to enter the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP)...

As a new migrant caravan makes its way through Central America with the final goal of reaching the U.S., Mexico announced this week that it will not allow passage. Mexico’s Secretary of Interior Olga Sanchez Cordero said no visas or permissions for the caravan will be provided. “We will not have a transit visa or safe passage,” Sanchez Cordero told Expansion Politica. “There will be special enforcement and there will be immigration agents.” However, if caravan migrants want to stay in Mexico, procedures are available. “Mexico is not a country of transit that gives passage, it is a country that...

On the heels of the city's first case of measles in 20 years, another vaccine-preventable disease, rubella, has been confirmed in Austin. Austin Public Health says this is the first case of rubella in Travis County since 1999. Rubella is covered by the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. While Austin/Travis County has a relatively high vaccination rate, there are pockets of communities where vaccination opt-outs bring herd immunity to an unstable status. Rubella is less contagious than measles, but the virus has similar symptoms and is contracted the same way. Rubella is spread mainly through droplets that come from...
