MOSCOW, March 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to open an account in Russian bank Rossiya which came under US sanctions. Putin has made a statement at a meeting of the Russian Security Council after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s report on introduction of US sanctions against Russia. “As far as I understand, this is a middle-size bank,” Putin noted. “I do not have an account there, but I will compulsorily open an account there on Monday,” he pledged. Putin also took with humour imposing of sanctions against concrete Russian citizens, state officials, some of which participated in the...

The Obama administration announced Monday that it would hold a special “youth summit social” on Dec. 4 for the “people who engage” the White House on social media. The White House also requested that participants “spread the word” by using the Twitter hashtag “#WHYouth,” prompting intense mockery and snickering from certain corners of the Internet. Apparently, some social media users felt that the White House’s “youth” tag was just a tad – creepy: --snip-- The summit aims to educate young voters on the supposed benefits of enrolling in the Affordable Care Act.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants to deep-six a stealth City Council account that some aldermen used to put family members, campaign operatives and those with political baggage on the public payroll without detection until the Tribune exposed the practice. The $1.3 million secret fund, which dates back decades at City Hall, is zeroed out in the 2014 budget proposal the mayor unveiled Wednesday. The change, however, will save only about $6,000. That's because the money is being spent to create a council office of financial analysis and to beef up regular aldermanic expense accounts — which some aldermen also have used...

Screenshots from sources show that the profile of the secret “alias” email account allegedly used by EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson was loaded on three computers under her name, as well as the computers of other agency employees within the Office of the Administrator. “This is a complete link between the Windsor email address and Jackson,” a source said in an email. Last week, The Daily Caller News Foundation reported that Jackson was allegedly using a secret “alias” email account under the name “Richard Windsor.” On Monday, The DCNF confirmed that the Windsor account was in use, citing an email released...

On ELECTION NIGHT, Free Republic could help it's members by preventing access to the site by anyone who does not have a valid log-in and password. It would also be adventageous to prevent the creation of new accounts on FR (starting now) until after the election to keep out the liberals who will certainly come here to explode in anger as elction results come in. I've noticed in elections past that DU does not allow access to even VIEW their site during elections unless you have an account. We should do the same!

How can I safely create a Facebook account without risk of the following: Facebook’s use of software that enables it to track users’ online activity after they log off of the social-networking site came under scrutiny in Washington this week, with lawmakers and consumer advocacy groups demanding a federal investigation. In a letter to the Federal Trade Commission, Reps. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Joe Barton (R-Tex.) wrote that Facebook’s use of “cookie” software should be investigated under the “unfair and deceptive acts” clause of the agency’s mandate. “When people log out of Facebook, they are under the expectation that...

Two years ago, in January 2010, Zero Hedge wrote "This Is The Government: Your Legal Right To Redeem Your Money Market Account Has Been Denied" which became one of our most read stories of the year. The reason? Perhaps something to do with an implicit attempt at capital controls by the government on one of the primary forms of cash aggregation available: $2.7 trillion in US money market funds. The proximal catalyst back then were new proposed regulations seeking to pull one of these three core pillars (these being no volatility, instantaneous liquidity, and redeemability) from the foundation of the...

I have a question about Health Savings Accounts. I have a HSA that is no longer being funded. I have treated it like an IRA and have not used it since inception. With all the talk about Obamacare and what is in it, I am seeking advice on what to do with the funds in the account. Any suggestion (almost) will be appreciated.

With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the neighborhood watch volunteer who eventually shot to death the unarmed 17-year-old, then climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, authorities told The Orlando Sentinel. That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities said.

In light of another fraud allegation against China Biotics which will likely soon join the Nasdaq trading halt page, we decided to take a quick look at the Nasdaq trading halts page. To our complete lack of surprise, Chinese fraud dominates with an iron fist: of 19 halted stocks (GFC has three classes of securities halted), 15 of the name are Chinese. Of these 15 Chinese names, none were on this list when we first warned of the imminent surge in reverse merger fraud back in November. Luckily, judging by the horrendous performance in recent Chinese IPOs, even with the...

(CNSNews.com) - Even as President Barack Obama continued the U.S. military intervention in Libya’s civil war--with armed Predator drones beginning patrols over that North African country on Thursday--U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the division of the Department of Homeland Security responsible for enforcing immigration laws, could not account for 10 Libyan men it had caught and released inside the United States since July 2009. After two weeks of inquiries about the Libyans from CNSNews.com, ICE finally responded on Thursday afternoon that it had already released to CNSNews.com all the information that was “available” on these Libyans and that the...

(IsraelNN.com) A first-person account of a US presidential candidate's trip to Israel by a prominent Jewish-American activist reveals a calm man with strong principles. When I received the invitation from Shani Hikind at the Ateret Cohanim/Jerusalem Reclamation Project (JRP) to accompany Republican Presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee on a mission to Israel, I agreed immediately. Having listened to Huckabee speak at the many debates held amongst the candidates, and being a fan of his Fox television show and his ABC radio shows, I knew that traveling with Mike would be a unique and extraordinary experience. It was...

I need some Freep help. I was at my FRiend's house last night and browsing Free Republic while logged in on his account, and I noticed a lot of articles appearing that I have never seen before. I logged in and checked all my account and message block display settings and noticed I do not have the option for "Humor" in my message block settings and I have been able to see any humor messages before. The only way I can see them is if I know the thread name and search for a keyword in the title, ie: "Silliness"....

Chirac denies claims of £30m paid into secret Japanese bank account By Colin Randall in Paris (Filed: 10/05/2006) President Jacques Chirac took the exceptional step last night of denying allegations that he had a secret Japanese bank account into which £30 million had been paid over a number of years. Mr Chirac, who rarely responds to allegations questioning his financial propriety, "categorically" rejected the suggestion in the satirical weekly Le Canard Enchainé that he had ever possessed such an account. A French intelligence chief, Gen Philippe Rondot, was alleged to have told investigating judges that the large amounts were paid...
