President Obama busily continued his five-state cross-country political money collection tour today. But he took time out to declare that he has "no regrets" about his firm statement of support for a new mosque and social center near the site in New York City of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. PRINCETON, NJ -- More Americans disapprove than approve of President Barack Obama's recent comments concerning the planned construction of a mosque near where the Sept. 11 terror attacks occurred in New York City, but 4 in 10 do not have an opinion on the matter. The vast majority of those with an opinion hold it strongly.

President Barack Obama earned his lowest marks ever on his handling of the economy in a new Associated Press-GfK poll, which also found that an overwhelming majority of Americans now describe the nation's financial outlook as poor. A majority of New Yorkers remain opposed to a mosque proposed as part of a planned Islamic cultural center near ground zero, and the issue will be a factor for many voters this fall, according to a statewide poll released Wednesday. The Siena College poll showed 63 percent of New York voters surveyed oppose the project, with 27 percent supporting it. That compares with 64 percent opposed and 28 percent in favor two weeks earlier, results that are within the polls' sampling margins.

A majority of those surveyed by Gallup disapproved of President Obama's job performance for the first time.  According to the Gallup daily tracking poll released on Tuesday, 51 percent of U.S. adults said they disapproved of how Obama was handling his job, compared with 42 percent who approve.  The poll reflects a one-point change from Monday, when Obama's disapproval number hit 50 percent for the first time. The latest Gallup generic ballot test shows the Republicans leading the Democrats by the largest spread in the history of the generic ballot. The percentage of Americans disapproving of how President Obama does his job hit an all-time high Monday, with half of all voters surveyed by the Gallup poll saying they disapprove.
