There is a widespread belief that if Israel would only give back the territories it seized during the Six Day War in 1967, then peace would come to the Middle East. This is demonstrably false, especially in light of a popular chant heard around the world in recent days.

The literary elite is using the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem to make Israel’s greatest victory synonymous with tragedy. It’s the new “nakba,” that being the Arabic word for “catastrophe” that Palestinians and their allies give to Israel’s victory in its 1948 war of independence, after Arab governments rejected the partition plan and declared war on the infant Jewish state. Palestinians could have had their own state all those decades ago, but chose war instead — and lost. There is something utterly nasty in trying to take a rare bright spot on the dark timeline of Jewish history...

"They (the United States and Israel) have decided to attack at least two countries in the region in the next three months." Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iranian president, July 26President Ahmadinejad has a penchant for the somewhat loony, as when last weekend he denounced Paul the Octopus, omniscient predictor of eight consecutive World Cup matches, as a symbol of decadence and purveyor of "Western propaganda and superstition."But for all his clownishness, Ahmadinejad is nonetheless calculating and dangerous. What "two countries" was he talking about? They seem logically to be Lebanon and Syria.Hezbollah in Lebanon has armed itself with 50,000 rockets and made...

Sheik Jamal Said stood before the packed mosque and worked the crowd like an auctioneer. Speaking Arabic, the prayer leader asked for a donation of $10,000. No one responded. He asked for $5,000, and three men raised their hands. < SNIP> The recipient of the worshipers' generosity was Sami Al-Arian, a Palestinian activist accused by the U.S. government of aiding terrorists. And the prayer leader's passionate appeal is a reflection of the ascendancy of Muslim hard-liners at the mosque, one of the most outspoken and embattled in the U.S. The mosque did not become this way without a struggle. Relying...

Volume 7, No. 3 - September 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE COLD WAR'S LONGEST COVER-UP: HOW AND WHY THE USSR INSTIGATED THE 1967 WAR By Isabella Ginor The Soviet warning to Egypt about supposed Israeli troop concentrations on the Syrian border in May 1967 has long been considered a blunder that precipitated a war which the USSR neither desired nor expected. New evidence from Soviet and other Warsaw Pact documents, as well as memoirs of contemporary actors, contradicts this accepted theory. The author demonstrates that this warning was deliberate disinformation, part of a plan approved at the highest level of Soviet leadership...

I am a settler. According to most of the world, I and people like me are to blame for violence in the Mideast, global terrorism, even tribal warfare in The Sudan. I'm sure that, given time, the hurricanes hitting seacoasts around the world could also be attributed to the settlers. If I were to be viciously murdered and hacked to death along with children and old people tomorrow, it wouldn't be the person wielding the knife who would be at fault, it would be me and us to blame! I am an enemy of the world. I am a more...

I read within the last few months an article stating why Isreal went to war in 1967...and that since that time Egypt has admitted that they were planning to strike. Does anyone have that source or know of such a recent(last 3-4months) article? I'm battling a guy at work about this. He says Isreal started the 1967 war, I say it was the Arabs. Thanks, madions46
