Montgomery, Ala.-A federal appeals court panel displayed skepticism and sympathy toward the claim of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore that a monument to the Ten Commandments in the Alabama Judicial Building is a constitutionally protected acknowledgement of God. A three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals met June 4, in Montgomery to hear Moore's appeal of a lower court order to remove the 2 1/2 ton granite monument.
