Just a quick discussion. I've done a lot of scuba diving in the Great Lakes (mostly Huron, some in Superior). Most don't realized it's rich underwater history of many shipwrecks, many very well preserved due to the cold fresh water instead of salt. Before cars and roadways were abundant, people traveled by ship quite often. However there were quite a few large storms in the early 1900's that sent a number of ships to watery graves, some well past the 130' limit most advanced recreational divers would try for. Anyone know where there's a good sub manufacturer that could explore down to say 500'?

I’d be an underwater “mule” between the US and Central America and only sell product to libs.

I’d switch to the Potomac and look for the outflow pipe from the US Capitol Building. Then just follow that pipe upstream to the source of all the effluent in the USA. Fire 1! Fire 2!

Sail it up the Potomac.
And conduct tours.
That's the ticket.

Cleverest reply of the thread so far. By my simple math, the number of guns lost by the clumsy people on this site numbers somewhere well into six, and perhaps even seven, figures. You'd need a REALLY big sub to lift all those off the bottom. Or a lot of trips to the surface. And some semis to transport them to wherever their real "final resting place" would be.
Good idea, though.

Well if you get one and don't have a pilot.
If Ghislaine Maxwell gets out of prison alive (doubtful) she has a license.
She might be looking for a job?

Wow. 10 replies in 13 minutes, 5 of which involved “torpedoes” and not so good (I guess there’s a point of view argument to that) intentions against some of the worlds “not necessarily nice” people. Interesting! Response in next message: “Hard to say. Is it armed with Trident II missiles?”
Looks like we’ve already moved to level (or DEFCON) 2.

After we made a raft on the local pond (5th grade) I dreamed up building an underwater “fort” and made drawings, etc. Never built it of course.
Pretty sure now that running a couple of garden hoses anchored to the raft above wouldn’t have done much!

There are mixed gas divers that go down way beyond the limits to explore these wrecks. I dived with some of them... Really passionate divers, and well-heeled. Great Lakes Shipwrecks is a great book on the subject. The way to insert yourself into this community is to start hanging out at Sharky’s in Ottawa. Currents, darkness, and cold make this sort of diving very difficult: my worst dive ever (perhaps) was up there. Being in a submarine is sort of antithetical to intimate exploration of a wreck.

Anyone know where there's a good sub manufacturer that could explore down to say 500'? Whatever you do, don't get cheap with your purchase. A submarine is not something you pinch pennies on, especially not if you intend to take it down to 500'.
I'd stay away from nuclear-powered, as well. Too many maintenance costs.
