Could I ask a serious question of some Mormons? (Please?)
today | me

No man who rejects the testimony of Joseph Smith can enter the kingdom of God"
Doctrines of Salvation, vol. I, p. 190).

My question:
Is that what Mormons believe?
If so, how was anyone saved before 1830.

I'll answer your questions the best I can..
Anyone who hears and rejects the testimony of Joseph, rejects what he is stating. That Jesus is the Christ, and that The True church of Jesus Christ is restored.

Your Idea of what Mormons believe is totally wrong. It is the same old roetoric that has been retold lies for years. It seems that (like the Clintons) if a lie is told enough sheeple will believe it. The LDS Church is open for investigation, look for yourself, go there and see for yourself, take the discusions, talk to the missionaries, but most importantly, PRAY to Your Father in Heaven and ASk with a sincere Heart, and He will Testify to you by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is ALL TRUE!

Yes or no please.

Lots of parsing of words in your answer. It really is a easy question to answer

Ron, this doesn't pass the giggle test. You really think BYU offers academic freedom to teachers who question the party line history of Mormonism?

I note you much prefer a subjective burning bosom confirmation of Mormonism, this is understandable given the major historical problems of Mormon "scriptures" and the character of Mormon "prophets." And we certainly don't want to take seriously Paul's recommendation that we search the Scriptures to see if Mormonism is true.

Much easier to decieve people via a subjective thorasic glow. Subjective proof is much more useful than dealing with those inconvenient inconsistencies in Mormonism.

That's an outrageous lie. You might want to spell out your agenda, since you clearly have one.

A woman can not even GET into the Celestial Kingdom unless HER HUSBAND (not God) calls her..tell the truth..If he does not call she is a servent

Not only MUST they be "temple worthy" Mormons to get into the celestial Kingdom but Joseph Smith is one of the Judges that decides who gets in..

Not just "calls her", but by her secret temple name.

You are upset about quotes from the LDS "Journal of Discourses" Don't call me a liar, check it out by going to the online "Journal of Discourses" that the LDS church provides.

Its the history of the LDS church. I challenge you to check it out yourself. It is repeated because it is documented history. Most of what I have posted are quotes from the LDS "Journal of Discourses". Your choice whether to believe it or not.

The Mormon wedding is interesting God calls the man through the veil (into the celestial Kingdom) and then the Husband calls the wife..that is VERY symbolic and points to the fact the woman does not rely on God to be saved..but her husband.

At one time the Husband took the temple 'wedding vows' to God and the wife to the husband...

The Prophet Joseph Smith was obviously reflecting on the question of whether polygamy was right or wrong when he wrote the Book of Mormon. He ended up taking a very strong stand against it. In Jacob 2:23-24 we read:

"But the word of God burdens me because of your grosser crimes. For behold, thus saith the Lord: This people begin to wax in iniquity; they understand not the scriptures, for they seek to excuse themselves in committing whoredoms, because of the things which were written concerning David, and Solomon his son.

"Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord."

Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Mat 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Mar 10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

You will never convince me that God commanded any man to go against his word. Plural marriage was a very hurtful part of early Mormonism. Brigham Young had 48 wives. Some lived in complete poverty. He had one that he loved the most, and treated her much better than the rest. You can't tell me that it was a wonderful thing for a 60 year old man to marry a 14 year old? Or to marry a mother, and daughter.

Another question? How do you answer the source I quoted from was The Journal of Discourses? How could this be taken out of context?

The day the GOV. steps in and keeps a bunch of old men from "taking innocent young women to wife when the other one wears out is the day I get a bit more pro GOV."

So you think the government should pass a law saying that all marriage partners have to have an age difference below some set number even though both of them consent to the marriage? What should that number be IYHO? If you are not going to put that restriction on monogamous marriages, what right is there to put it on plural ones?

But the government didn't come out saying that there had to be some age difference restriction, they didn't care that there was consent by both for the marriage, they outlawed it totaly. If prayer becomes unpopular enough, would the government have the right to ban it too?
