Catholic Caucus: Joys and Inspiration
3 April A.D. 2002 | father_elijah

Posted on 04/02/2002 4:35:58 PM PST by father_elijah

I have received the joyful news that two of our Freeper family entered the Church at Vigil this last weekend. ventana and roachie received the sacraments, and this is an occasion for great rejoicing by all of the faithful.

I thought it would be good for us to congratulate those who have just entered the Church by posting a welcome, a favorite Catholic quote, a favorite Catholic link, a favorite Scripture, or even a favorite holy card image. Please join me in welcoming ventana and roachie. If there are any others, please let us know so we may all rejoice.

I'm Lutheran, but am rejoicing with all the participants in this wonderful occasion.

"All other ground is sinking sand".

God bless you all.

Thank all of you. I've just learned that one of my brothers is returning to the Church. He didn't want to attend the Vigil Saturday, but came because he knew it meant alot to me. His tears started when the Paschal candle was brought in and they didn't stop until the end. Today, he spent 2 hours talking to my pastor and he has reconciled himself to Our Saviour. This has indeed been the most blessed Easter season of my life.

Wow! I have not had time to read all this.Things are nuts at work.

I thank all for their kind words of encouragement, great links, and prayers.

Congrats to you roachie as well.

This has been a wonderful period in my life, and the apologetics (albeit betimes apoplectic) on FR (neverending story) were a huge part of my education. My thanks to all the Cs and NCs who drove me to the scriptures and strengthened my convictions. I have found a wonderful traditional church in the city(NY) a block from my office for masses during the week, another blessing. Thomas Merton wrote how important it was for him to have the Eucharist every day. After so many years, I find myself similarly inclined.

Sleep now, read more later.

While I was searching the Web I came across this beautiful poem. This thread seems like a good place to share it.

"The Beautiful Hands of a Priest"

We need them in life's early morning,
We need them again at its close,
We feel their warm clasp of true friendship;
We seek them when tasting life's woes.
When we come to this world we are sinful,
The greatest as well as the least:
And the hand that makes us pure as angels
Is the beautiful hand of a priest.

At the altar each day we behold them,
And the hands of a king on his throne
Are not equal to them in their greatness,
Their dignity stands all alone;
For there in the stillness of morning
Ere the sun has emerged from the east,
There God rests between the pure fingers
Of the beautiful hands of a priest.

And when we are tempted and wander
To pathways of shame and sin,
Tis the hands of a priest will absolve us
Not once, but again and again.
And when we are taking life's partner
Other hands may prepare us a feast;
But the hand that will bless and unite us
Is the beautiful hand of a priest.

God bless them and keep them all holy
For the Host which their fingers caress
What can a poor sinner do better
Then praise Him, Who chose thee to bless?
When the death dews on our eyelids are falling
May our courage and strength be increased
By seeing raised o'er us in blessing
The beautiful hand of a priest.

More great news. I'm so glad for him. The world is getting better one person at a time through God's Grace. Pray for more people to join God's family to show His love and mercy.

I just answered you on the other thread about Condi Rice and I would repeat that here and add: Isn't it amazing to see what God can do with a soul? How He can turn the darkest heart to light and love? It also shows how important it is for us to keep praying and live a life of faith and rely on God because that is where the power lives. We can beg, plead, argue and cajole and it won't change anyone's heart but God can use us to change hearts if we let Him.

What a beautiful prayer, thank you for posting it. I'll do it again if you don't mind!

O God, the King of saints, we praise and magnify thy holy Name for all thy servants who have finished their course in thy faith and fear; for the Blessed Virgin Mary; for the holy patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs; and for all other thy righteous servants, known to us and unknown; and we beseech thee that, encouraged by their examples, aided by their prayers, and strengthened by their fellowship, we also may be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; through the merits of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Congratulations to all and God bless you!
The good God does not need years to accomplish His work of love in a soul; one ray from His Heart can, in an instant, make His flower bloom for eternity... St. Therese of Lisieux

May you be filled with God's good graces and remain steadfast in your faith.
