The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

If Christ didn't die to bring us salvation, than what did He die for.

Reggie, I'm ashamed of you, are you still spreading that story that Jesus didn't come to bring salvation?

Now you know we've had to warn you in the past, so if it happens again, "WHAM" goes the "Report Abuse" button.

You've been warned.

JH and no smiley face for you. #:-(

That is why you don't see much breaking away.

Except for the "Judaizers". And the Donatists. And the Arians. And the Nestorians. And the Monotheletists. And the Orthodox. And the Protestants. And the Old Catholic Church. And the SSPX...

Minor detail I'm sure. :-)

It makes her feel like she's a part of this illustrious group, what else?

Ok that's fine. Just as long as you don't make her read it aloud just so you can make sure she read it. :-)

Again, I'll repeat-not to seek any type of truth, or even some type of spirtual gaces, but to plead with them to pray for me to the Lord our God.

This is still attempting to communicate with the dead in effort to affect change here. Whatever you want to call it, it is both impossible and sin. This is not a little matter or an issue of interpretation. It is defined. And if you've been doing it you are already suffering the spiritual consequence. Oh, weren't aware of that part, were you...

IS AMERICA THE BABYLON OF THE APOCALYPSE (THE REVELATION TO JOHN)?

Revelation 18: 1-3  "After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority; and the earth was made bright with hid splendor.  And he called out with a mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!  It has become the dwelling place of demons, a haunt of every foul spirit, a haunt of every foul and hateful bird; for all nations have drunk the wine of her impure passion, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich with the wealth of her wantonness."

Uh, no. Babylon is defined in scripture and there are a few hints as to the identity even within the verse you reference. Fornication in spiritual terms is to cheat on God - ie to dabble in pagan beliefs and practices up to and including worship of pagan or strange gods. It is, in short, a religion. It is a religion defined by it's name and it's location - Rome. It is a religion who the merchants of the earth have grown wealthy from - the selling of trinkets, of apparel, of candles.. you name it. It is a religion that exists in all nations. And it is the religion of kings around the world. Doesn't leave much anything to the imagination. It is defined but it doesn't have to be. No other religion fits this definition. And it is not necessarily limited to the Roman Brand, Orthodoxy has the same roots and has shared with Rome some of the same errors. Whether the scriptural reference includes Orthodoxy or not is immaterial; but, it should give the orthodox reason for pause.

Many Protestants are so quick to jump the gun and start having so many interpretations that you now have thousands of Protestant denominations...

Yep. 30000 of them right? Don't you just love having choices and freedom? I guess I'm probably around number 15001. I'm a liberal baptist and I kind of lean left. I hang out fundamentalists though and they pull me back in when I stray too far :').

No that is not what I mean. I don't mean to compare numbers or what not. I mean that the Bible and the Magesterium keep the Catholic Church close knit. And, all of the religions you mentioned ARE "protestant."

ALTHOUGH THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS WIDELY LOOKED DOWN UPON, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH GOD GIVES HER HIS FAVOR.

Sirach 11:17  "The gift of the Lord endures for those who are godly, and what he approves will have lasting success."

Really.. "SEEMS". Can you elaborate on this. I'm having a difficult time imagining based on all the things the institution of Catholicism has drawn to itself in the way of trouble by it's own doings that you can construe this as being favored by God. If you're implying logevity means favor, then you'd have to conclude that Chinese humanist Communism along with Budhism and countless other pagan religions including the worship of ISIS are favored of God - obviously not the case as we know these things are hateful before the eyes of God. So do please elaborate.

Ok that's fine. Just as long as you don't make her read it aloud just so you can make sure she read it. :-)

Not a chance, her being a Catholic all her life, when she started reading the Bible, she was like a starved person who had been finally given food.

She started out with a Bible I gave her, it was a Catholic approved Living Version, because she couldn't understand the KJV English.

Around a year ago she started reading both. She reads in the Living Bible first, then reads it in the KJV, now she's reading KJV full time.

She amazes me how she loves to study and read, and how well disiplined she is. I can thank the RCC for part of that. Lol

She gets up at around 6am and says her impromptu prayers, then reads until 8am, then sometimes she starts reading again around 10am, or in the afternoon.

She'd die if she knew I was bragging on her. :-)

PS, she loves to read out loud, and I love to hear her, except she can put me to sleep in 2 minutes.

JH ZZZZzzzzz…..
