Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
I think the Catholics are outnumbered here, friend.
Not enought good baptists.
You mean baptist or babdiss? Big difference there. ;o)

The following is, as usual, from The Word Among Us:
In the week before his death, Jesus stayed in Bethany, near Jerusalem. He arrived "six days before the Passover" (John 12:1), giving himself some time to prepare for the great feast and for his final sacrifice. Let's follow Jesus' example this week. Let's set these days aside as a time to prepare for Easter by deepening our understanding of the redemption Jesus wrought.
We've all heard that forgiveness of our sins is the first blessing that flows from the cross. But there are so many others! Mary of Bethany demonstrated one at the dinner she gave to honor Jesus. He had recently raised her brother Lazarus from the dead, so there must have been quite a sense of awe in the room. But then Mary crowned the evening when she anointed Jesus' feet with an alabaster jar full of costly perfume (John 12:3).
Far from being a waste, as Judas claimed (John 12:4-5), Mary's extravagant act was very appropriate. For Mary, the gesture was probably a sign of love and gratitude for the love Jesus had shown in raising Lazarus. But on another level, her action shows the kind of adoration and praise that naturally arise when we contemplate the love that God has shown to us.
In prayer today, contemplate the love that Jesus poured out on the cross. By his death, he made it possible for you to be drawn into intimate communion with him. His love for you is eternal, ever fresh, unconditional, and creative. He has rescued you from death and filled you with divine life. He wants to hold you close to his heart.
Let these truths sink into your heart. You will always have your responsibilities to the poor, and to your family and community. But during this week, why not make a special commitment to worship Jesus, who loves you so much? "Waste" your time and energy in adoration this week, so that the sweet fragrance of your worship can fill the entire house of God.
"Lord Jesus, I adore you. I am amazed at the perfect love and intimate fellowship you have lavished on me through your cross."

God bless.

Dang. I was close to bringing this to your attention myself. I should have known I'd get a pre-emptive strike. :-)
Ok. Thank you.
What can I say? The Mavs are just being the usual Mavs. I don't see any chance of them getting past anyone in the West.
Luke 11:27,28 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare these and the paps which thou has sucked.
but he said, Yea rather , blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Mat: 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
In other words He is not of Mary. She is not His mother genetically.
Mat 12:46-50 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Mark 3:31-35 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for the.
and he answered them, saying, who is my mother, or my brethren?
And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother and my sister, and mother.
Heb 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisdec.
Heb 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
Jesus has no mother spiritually and typically
Gal 4:22-31:
22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
Notice that there really is a mother of the church and it isn't Mary! Once again Mary is not even mentioned.
Misrepresented Mary Verses
I'll add these soon
And just how are these "anti-Mary?" Didn't she "hear the word of God, and keep it?"
What does Mt. 11:11 have to do with Mary? That whole chapter (from v. 2 on through at least 15) is discussing John.
In other words He is not of Mary. She is not His mother genetically.
Are you saying John is not of Mary or are you talking about Jesus? If Jesus, how can you say he was not of Mary? Yeah, he is of God, we know that. But he was born of Mary ... you can't deny that. I think you're digging a little bit to say that verse is "ant-Mary."
The passages where Jesus says, "Who is my mother and who are my brethren?" are not to "diss" his relatives, but to show that he calls all who do the will of the Father to be his family. Didn't Mary do the will of the Father?
Heb 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisdec.
And just what does this prove?
Heb 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
Isn't this referring to Melchizedek?
----------
Don't you have anything better than this, wonk? ;o)
It's subtle like when Jesus said "Why do you call me good". You have to be paying attention to hear what He is saying. "Of men born of women". But we know Jesus is greater than John therefore... This is not to say that she was not a vessel, but He is not of her, not her egg.
Indeed we do, but Jesus won't be the one to tell you that. Didn't he tell his disciples not to do things like that?
I still say you're drawing your own conclusions with that verse.
"The forces of American colonialism began to drop containers that produce a sound explosion, a very huge sound. I remind you that they said that their strategy is based on shock and awe. Those failed ones manufactured a type of container that has an explosive substance, which they drop. They cause a very huge explosion in terms of sound, as if the universe was shaken. After a while, you go out and you don't find anything. You find some nails, screws, pieces of metal, but the important thing here is the sound. Those failed ones think that through the huge sound explosion, people would be shocked and consequently would collapse and be defeated. What happened?
The contrary. The fighters..., the masses..., and the heroic sons of the Iraqi tribes discovered this game. They will turn it against the American louts so as to shock them. Wait for surprises, God willing, to see how the US game will fail."
"The shock has backfired on them. They are shocked because of what they have seen. No one received them with roses. They were received with bombs, shoes and bullets. Now, the game has been exposed. Awe will backfire on them. This is the boa snake. We will extend it further and cut it the appropriate way."
JH :-)
The verse speaks for itself just like when the Lord said "Why do you call me good, no one is good but God".
