Can a Christian be a communist? I answer that question with an emphatic “no.”
In the first place, it leaves out God and Jesus Christ. It regards religion intellectually as the product of fear and ignorance. And it regards religion historically as an instrument serving the ends of exploiters.
A second reason that we can’t accept communism is that its methods are opposed to Christianity. Since for the communist there is no divine or absolute moral order…force, violence, murder, and lying are all justifiable means to bring about the millennial end…
In the third place, we have to disagree with communism because the end of communism is the state…While you are on the way to a classless society, the state is the end. And if any man’s so-called rights or liberties stand in the way of that end, they are simply swept aside.
Yet, we must realize that there is something in communism which challenges us all…
However much is wrong with communism, we must admit that it arose as a protest against the hardships of the underprivileged. We must admit that we, as Christians, have often lagged behind at this point.
Slavery could not have existed in the United States for almost 250 years if the church had really taken a stand against it…The church has too often been an institution serving to crystallize the patterns of the status quo.
Marx reveals the danger of the profit motive as the sole basis for an economic system. We must heed this challenge. Something is telling us today that there is something more than making a lot of money…
Let me rush on now toward my conclusion and say this. We are challenged to dedicate and devote our lives to the cause of Christ as the communists do to communism.

According to the Acts of the Apostles, there was at least one early Christian commune. It was a disaster. People eventually abandoned it and went back to work.
Communism is essentially an atheistic Christian heresy; it attempts to create heaven without removing sin and adding Christ.
I thought communism demanded worship of government only and nothing else......is that not accurate?
Jesuits. The Vatican has been poisoned with their heresy since John Paul II died. I still miss than man.
a Christian can be deluded by the evil one and join any number of unchristian sects or movements or agendas- The Holy Spirit will try to get through to that christian, who essentially is slowly (or maybe not so slowly) turnign their back on God by seeking godless movements or whatever- and eventually God may turn them over to their folly- and that will spell disaster for the person- They won’t be unsaved, but they will reap what they sow- and have to suffer the consequences
Just ask the pope.

The history of communism persecuting and killing Christians would suggest an uneasy relationship.
2 Thessalonians 3:10
King James Version
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
Well, the previous Pope Francis sure though so.
No. The answer is no.
Acts 2-4 was about famine, not a way of life. Peter made it clear to Ananias and Saphira that they didn’t have to give anything, but they shouldn’t try to claim to give more than they did.
That’s a lie. MLK had liberal theological leanings when it came to social justice, but always took his message back to the cross and eternity if you read his sermons and actual writings. He had a sordid personal life but so have and do many conservative icons from Trump to Musk…and at least he wasn’t a blatant anti-Semite like the original Martin Luther.
King visited Israel several times and always stood up for Zionism.
King didn’t belive in YESHUA’s divinity, and his Commoe connections are well known
Guess we will know for sure only when we get to Heaven ourselves. King went through phases like a lot of seminarians do. And great figures in general. Abraham Lincoln was agnostic for most of his adult life, but the Civil War and loss of his kid son changed him.
But ultimately, I base my understanding of MLK’s state of mind with the last speech he ever delivered, the day before he was shot:
“Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!
And so I’m happy, tonight.
I’m not worried about anything.
I’m not fearing any man!
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!!”
Communists use lying, force, killing, and justify with "the end justifies the means."
Jesus didn't just say, "It's nice to tell the truth." No, He said, I am the Truth. His unity with Truth is so full and complete that any lie is anathema to Christianity.
In Genesis, when Adam and Eve were thrown out of Eden, the Almighty said that "with the sweat of your brow will you earn your bread," specifying individual effort in supporting oneself.
In the New Testament, numerous parables and aphorisms by Jesus cite savings, earnings, forgiveness of debt, invention, care of animals, farming, investment, etc. Conversely there are no such parables or aphorisms talking about entitled disbursements, equality in pay, collectivism, mass imprisonment and murder of dissenters from collectivist rule.
The support for capitalism in the Bible is implicit but fairly obvious.
I don’t see how, in communism the state is the religion that must be worshipped, and the only god that is acceptable.
