Methodist pastrix says we should call God "Our Grandmother" or "Our Coach" because “Father” is triggering

What religion is this?

United Methodist Minister explains that praying to God as 'Our Father' can be painful, damaging, and traumatic for some, so she advises to pray instead 'Our Grandmother who art in heaven' or 'Our coach....'

Whether you pray 'Our Father in heaven,' or 'Our mother in heaven,' or 'Our parent in heaven,' it makes no difference in terms of the prayer itself.

The Apostle Paul is quite literally rolling over in his grave right now.

God, by His own Word, is OUR FATHER. Jesus refers to God as "Father" more than 100 times and explicitly teaches his disciples to pray in that name. It DOES make a difference.

If you pray to "grandma," then you are praying to another god.

It can make a tremendous difference in the life of the one who is praying. For those with strained or non-existent relations with a parent, being forced to pray to God in a way that brings up that painful familial relationship can have harmful consequences.

Ah, the god of empathy. This "pastor" is more sensitive to the hurting world than God the Father Himself, don't ya know!

It can even be something like 'Our sunday school teacher.' 'Our grandmother,' 'Our coach,' 'Our mentor.'

Whatever will elicit from you this sense of belovedness.

Yeah, or maybe lady preacher, just stick to the Word of God and what it tells us.

Matthew 6:9-13

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. ...

Without the pain of conviction through the Holy Spirit one cannot be saved.

To hide the truth because it is uncomfortable is to preach doctrines of demons and lead people to hell.

1 Timothy 5:20 As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear.

Like in all things the left can only destroy. You obviously are not a Christian, but trying to co-opt Christianity to meet your desires.

Start your own “religion”, L Ron did….

Satan has found another mouth piece 🤬

Methodists are not a church of Christ. Have never been a church of Christ. Clearly, will never repent of their false doctrines and anti Christ foundation. Hence, will never be a church of Christ.

1 John 2:3-4: And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Knowing a number of people with toxic problematic grand parents leads me to belive that this woman has an unrealistic fairy tale based worldview with a heaping dose of self centeredness and more than a little more bit of attention-seeking.

Maybe the Methodist lady should suggest they use Ethel or Thelma?

Agreed, at least as far as Methodist leadership in our lifetime tended to be. But to clarify further, this false teacher was a "United Methodist Minister" (from the link).

Not to be confused with the other Methodists who recently left the hedonist pushing United Meth general conference and joined the new one that's supposed to be more Bible believing and encourage living holy lives (like John Wesley did). These Methodist churches left the hedonist leaders by voting to get out as entire local churches -- with the votes being done by the adult members (not just the local church leaders). They did that even though many of those local churches incurred huge financial losses to do so. To me that speaks that their zeal to get things right for Christ is genuine. Don't be surprised if we soon see the Methodists in the new conference acting like the Wesleyan Methodists during and shortly after this country's founding. If they do that then they'll be boldly teaching people to believe in Christ and the Bible, not man and not worldly ways.

interesting you should bring up keeping the Commandments since so many denominational beliefs teach skipping some or teaching that one or the other was changed somehow or done away with but can never quite quote a clear Scripture for the change of any Commandment without changing a bunch of jots and tittles of the Law. heard of a woman who was asked if she kept the Bible Commandments and her response was “oh yes! I keep all nine of them”. food for thought.

I am one of the Wesleyan types that split from the Church of my youth, that was corrupted by the left. The UMC is nothing but a money grubbing leftist feel-good group that tries to resemble a Church.

Our Ethel, who art in a white building
Hallowed be thy Safe Space
Thy Diversity Mum
Your ill be done
In Berkeley, as it is in Madison
Give us this day our burning Tesla
And forgive us our Diversity Hires
As we forgive those who fire our white asses
And indulge our violent actions
Which we don't see as evil
For hers is the Prison, the Power, and The Gay Pride
For ever and ever

Hail Ethel

“United Methodist” always reminds me of something a friend told me once...”United or Untied always depends on the relationship of the I to the Cross”. apparently the United Methodists prefer the I before the Cross.

I couldn't be prouder of you and your church! Tell me, where there demographic tendencies on how the vote went? Like, were older people leaning one way and younger the other? Or men one way and women the other? Or longtime members one way and newbies the other?

Another thing, if I was you I'd make the vote a defining moment with a never-again attitude for the church. Tell everyone, including the church leaders, that you'll operate by my tagline. The context of that is if someone gives you a teaching claiming it's prophecy. Paul says not to immediately throw shade on their claim (don't grieve the Holy Spirit, the person making the claim of prophecy may be telling the truth). But whatever he teaches you, put it to the test and hold fast to what is true. I put to the test everything I'm taught in church. That's part of the power of sola scriptura. Wesley did the same with the Church of England leaders. Luther did the same with the RCC leaders. As did Huss. As did Wycliffe.

like it a lot! perhaps that means one must be dyslexic to have the right relationship of the Cross to the I?
