CV NEWS FEED // A satanic so-called “holiday display” is currently in the Minnesota State Capitol, according to recent reports. The office of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who does not personally approve of it, recently told a news outlet that the display is protected by the First Amendment.
CBS News Minnesota’s WCCO News reported that the group Minnesota Satanists set up the display over the Dec. 14-15 weekend.
A spokesperson for Walz told WCCO in a statement regarding the display: “The First Amendment means that he does not police speech in the State Capitol. That’s true whether it’s a religious display, a political protest, or a Minnesotan advocating for a policy.”
On X, Alpha News posted a screenshot of a Minnesota Satanists post about the display. The group thanked its members “for helping us set up Minnesota Satanist’s first ever holiday display at the State Capitol in Saint Paul! HAIL RELIGIOUS PLURALITY!!! HAIL S*T*N!!!”
On U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber’s (R-Minnesota) personal X account, he described the display as “a disgrace.”
Almost exactly one year ago, retired military officer and former congressional candidate Michael Cassidy, a Christian, made headlines when he beheaded a Satanic “holiday display” that had been put up in Iowa’s State Capitol.
Cassidy has been vocal on his X account about the recent display in the Minnesota State Capitol, questioning the responsibility held by the state’s elected officials.
Addressing and tagging Walz in a Dec. 15 post, Cassidy asked, “Do you want the Democratic Party defined as promoters of Satanism, by tolerating their display in your state capitol? If not, what are you doing to stop it?”
Cassidy addressed similar questions via X posts to Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party Chair Ken Martin, who is the Democratic National Committee Vice-Chair, and to the Minnesota House of Representatives’ Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Majority Caucus.
On Dec. 15, Cassidy posted an image, likely AI-generated, of the Founding Fathers standing agape and concerned. He captioned it: “The Founding Fathers hearing that in 250 years many government and religious leaders would think the 1st Amendment means tolerating Satanic icons in State Capitols.”
In New Hampshire last week, an unidentified person destroyed a Satanic statue set up by the Satanic Temple outside of the Statehouse, near a nativity display. As of Dec. 16, the destroyed statue has been repaired and put back up, according to the Concord Monitor.
Following Cassidy’s actions at the Iowa State Capitol last year, Iowa State Rep. Brad Sherman was among those who argued against the legality of the display. He wrote Dec. 8, “It is a tortured and twisted interpretation of law that affords Satan, who is universally understood to be the enemy of God, religious expression equal to God in an institution of government that depends upon God for continued blessings.”
But I cannot pray in front of a PP ofc
I guess I’m more of a libertarian on some things.
Should be... But when it comes to stuff like this, the Left has proven to be histoircally less than consistent.
I’m not a Christian... and I don’t particularly want it there either.
This is a calculated political insult against a major Religion.
A nude Timmy lies in the atheist creche.
I wish every Christian would put up a cross and nativity scene in their front yard. It would take away the nonsense at the courthouse or governor office.
It does. The government is to remain neutral neither endorsing or prohibiting expressions of individual religious faiths in the public square. It can however simply choose to prohibit or allow every expression of religious faith.
It is probably best for towns and cities to stick with displays that are non religious. There are enough Christmas symbols that are accepted as being part of the larger culture such as a Christmas Tree and Santa Claus. It really is not worth a extracted legal battle with taxpayer money.
They are, but that depends if they are seen as a historical document or a religious one. Personally I think they are a part of our legal heritage and displaying them permanently is fine. Courts have decided they are a religious symbol. So that means if a temporary display lauding the Democratic (sorry I mean Satanic)faith is o.k. One with symbols of Judaism would be allowed as well.
Yes you can. At least in the U.S.
And this corrupt evil POS almost becam VP.
Does it protect the display from... a hatchet? If Carrie Nation was in the right, so would one of us!
Light it on fire. When they get mad, innocently say you thought it would enhance the display, by showing Satan in his natural environment!
Exactly.... in 1940 no court in America would have found that was legal. And no state governor or mayor would have dared allow it.
It’s one of these newly discovered “rights” that has only popped up since the 1960s atheist, homosexual, and communist freaks populated law schools and courts.
Except for Christmas displays ... separation of church and state and all that .... can’t freak out the woke folks.
So when is “No Religion” considered a “Religion”
Therefore any organazation can have a display.
Are they trying to display a Statue of satan? Satan is either 1) in invisible spiritual being, or 2) an imaginary spiritual being. So, only allow satanists to erect an invisible statue of their invisible provocation, which is all this is.
I love you guys
Totally agree, this is a statement against Christians. Ironically those who installed it likely don’t believe in Satan even though they serve him.
