I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone: for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Next Week we celebrate Independence Day (The Fourth of July) . . . the federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence, which was ratified by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, establishing the United States of America. The Declaration of Independence mentions God four times, referring to Him as the Creator of the world, the foundation for morality, the judge of the world, and the one who interferes in the lives of nations and peoples. The Declaration refers to “Nature’s God,” “Creator,” and “Divine Providence”. Thomas Jefferson wrote the words in the Declaration of Independence that “we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights”. Jefferson, like most of the Founders, believed in a moral order to the universe that is only governed by God.
Heavenly Father, Oh how far our nation has strayed from its founding ideals “God, Family and Country." A country You put forth to provide religious freedom for its people and opportunities to evangelize the world.
I have been led to include in today’s prayer a special prayer for America by Dr. David Jeremiah which also includes Scripture References. May we be in agreement as we pray. . .

Our nation is facing unprecedented uncertainty. Health, finances, politics—every aspect of life seems to be hanging in the balance. Each solution put forward seems to raise new questions. Yet there is one source of true hope and healing, and that is Almighty God. He has promised, 'If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7: 14) Please join me in praying for the future of our nation and searching the Scriptures for godly wisdom.
A PRAYER FOR AMERICA
Almighty God,
In all history, there has been only one nation like America— founded by pilgrims seeking freedom to worship, established on a vast continent between two oceans, dedicated to the proposition that we are created equal and endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights: One nation under God.
You have delivered us in war, prospered us in peace, and raised up generations willing to offer the last full measure of their devotion for the preservation of liberty at home and abroad.
We have been a light for the world.
From our shores has gone the greatest missionary force in history. But now, Lord, America has fallen into darkness, disobedience, and indifference.
We have sinned; and we, Your people, Lord, humble ourselves, and pray and seek Your face, and turn from our wicked ways. Please forgive our sin and heal our land.
Give us leaders who understand the times and know what we should do. May the torch of liberty burn brightly, inflamed by the goodness of Your people.
God, bless America.
