You need to Not wave Your Hind quarters in Public!
Now you do realize that the word they received would be the oral tradition, and that the scriptures that are being referring to in that verse would be the old testament, don't you?
Doesn’t that seem presumptuous then for them to believe they will avoid hell by wearing a scapular?
I thought presumption was a sin.
Preaching is NOT *oral tradition*.
And it’s irrelevant that all they had was the OT. That’s because the NT hadn’t been written yet. They were living it and becoming part of it.
The Bereans were commended for searching Scripture to verify Paul’s message. And regardless of how much they had, just the OT, the principle is the same.
They didn’t go to the pharisees and scribes , nor appeal to Jewish tradition that the scribes and pharisees added to God’s law that Jesus condemned.
They went to the only sure and reliable source. Scripture. God’s word.
It’s pretty staggering when you think about it, that people would say what God breathed out and inspired is not good enough.
Yes they are.
Superstitious people look for “miracles”.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Maybe YOU haven't, but you chosen religious organization sure has!!
And it's been shown here on FR over and over.
Classic 'Look Over THERE!'
The Utah Mormons have an 'Inspired' Version.
Unlike their Missouri cousins, they just have not elevated it to the level of scripture in the 'true' LDS lexicon.
Just you wait, ‘enry ‘iggans - just you WAIT!
We should not wave a RAINBOW FLAG!
If you are waving a Rainbow Flag, as your use of the first person plural points to, I advise you to stop. I am not waving a Rainbow flag, and do not know where you got that idea.
That God, who could obliterate everything in a heartbeat, continues to sustain things in existence, makes things wee bit confusing, at least to me.
If you know for sure what God would do, you have a leg up on what Catholic’s actually claim about the Pope. We merely claim that, in extremely rare and defined instances, he will not teach anything contrary to what God would teach.
Pope Francis, for whatever his flaws, is very careful to avoid encountering any of those instances. Putting on a veneer of being informal basically guarantess it.
It’s been less than 200 years (see #298) since ‘Mary’ showed up and gave the world the Green one, so yeah - anything is possible.
Scratch 'hell' and insert 'eternal'.
My bad...
Anti-christ/2
That’s ridiculous. There was only one church back then with Christ as its head when He was alive.
And it wasn’t Roman Catholic by any stretch.
Fascinating...!
.
I wonder What ‘John the Baptist’ Had?
.
He was called ‘The Greatest’
By Jesus.
.
Declaring The Kingdom of God was Here and
“ Behold the Lamb of God who Takes away
The Sin of the World”-—?
.
Something in the Locust and Honey
Or
That God sent him as an Elijah?
.
And yet we struggle with and old Marxist with a funny Hat!
Your response is literally funny, in that ridiculus is from the latin meaning laughter.
It’s a joke a stole from a Baptist minister.
As to there being one Church, it depends what you mean by Church. I’ll happily contend that on the deepest level of meaning, there still is only one true Church because there is only one true Christ and the Church is His Body.
Ooops......
Ephesians 1:22-23 And he [God] put all things under his feet and gave him [Jesus] as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
Colossians 1:18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
