VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Roman Catholic Church has effectively buried the concept of limbo, the place where centuries of tradition and teaching held that babies who die without baptism went.

Besides, if eating Jesus were the way to get saved, then once should be enough.
Instead, it’s on again, off again salvation where it needs to be replenished weekly.
Besides, we were just told on this thread that baptism is required for salvation. Now we’re told communion is necessary. Looks like baptism isn’t good enough either.
It looks like more hoops (works) need to be added to get saved.
Anything you are trusting besides Jesus for salvation is the thing you believe saves you. Clearly Catholicism teaches that faith in Jesus Christ is not enough. His atonement in and of itself is not sufficient to save a person.
The only thing that cleanses sin is he shedding of blood.
Hebrews 9:22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Once cleansing is done by the blood, there is no further need for purification or cleansing.
Christ freed us from the need for blood sacrifice.
How can we perform a blood sacrifice after we are dead?
Christ is the last blood sacrifice that man needs.
But the sins against man also need atonement. Purgatory is how we atone for the sins against me that we didn’t atone for while alive.
From the group that claims they’ve never changed. Opps!!
I don’t really know. I asked my dad if he was going to Heaven. He didn’t know, but my mom said he would go to Limbo. So, my question would be, if limbo has been willed out of existence, where did my dad go?
Just to be clear, this is from 2007.
God is a God on our side. God didn’t put this in place to keep people from being saved, rather so that people would understand and admit they needed God to save them, namely through Jesus Christ, aka the Good News.
God also says He will save who He wants to save. If He wants to save a little child, who is able to tell God He cannot save that child? Or anyone, for that matter.
The thief on the cross couldnt be baptized but Jesus saved Him. People can be saved without being baptized. Its n9t that they are rejecting baptism, they just are not yet baptized.
If the blood of Christ doesn’t completely make you clean…..NOTHING WILL.
Have we evolved, since then? I just know that I read a thread and the subsequent comments about abortion on this website today and it gave me to wonder about Purgatory and Limbo...and babies and those aged and young.
Well sure.
Anything else, is another gospel.
Faith alone. Yep.
We don't, in fact CAN'T, atone for our own sins. If that were possible, then Jesus died for nothing because then we could save ourselves.
Colossians 2:13-14 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
The ENTIRE record of our sin debt towards God was addressed at the cross when Jesus dealt with it there. There is nothing left to atone for because it has all been already paid for.
We owe nothing because there is nothing left unantoned for.
God can't require payment for sin that is not counted against us. That would be unjust to make the innocent pay for a crime not on their record, and He cannot be unjust.
Maybe just a small debt of gratitude on my part to be able to read what you wrote.

yes
where does is say one must be baptized? You mean water? By Holy Spirit?
John 3:5 "Jesus answered: Amen, amen I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
I always wanted to meet the guy who took that bong rip and said “Wait, I have an idea”.
