Actor and comedian Russell Brand announced Friday that he is going to be baptized this weekend, the culmination of his months-long public wrestling with the tenets of Christianity.
"This Sunday, I'm taking the plunge," Brand, 48, said in a video he posted to X. "I'm getting baptized."

“Public conversions speak my skeptical side, but Godspeed.”
I’m no theologian by any means, but I’m pretty sure baptisms are supposed to be a public declaration of your acceptance of Jesus Christ.
“The Meaning of Baptism
If the meaning of baptism could be summarized in one word, that would be identification. Baptism speaks primarily of personal, public identification with Jesus Christ.”

“Is he saved?”
If not, then he shouldn’t be getting baptized.
Dr. Nefarious.
?????
Baptism is how you get saved.
I watch his podcast on Rumble... I don’t agree with all his takes but he is an intelligent voice..
You obviously don’t know Russell Brand.
He has been studying ‘Mere Christianity’ by CS Lewis... apparently he is a believer now. My impression is it is part of the ‘higher power’ requirement of his 12 step program.
Baptism is your public announcement after you get Saved by Believing (IMHO)
Mark 16:15-16
New American Standard Bible
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.
16 The one who has Believed and has been Baptized will be Saved; but the one who has not believed will be condemned.

John 3:17-18
English Standard Version
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the World might be Saved through him.
18 Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the Name of the Only Son of God.

Peter declared the Lord’s requirements for conversion on the day Christ’s church was born:
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38
If you look at the instances of water baptism in Acts, you will notice it was not delayed. It was done pronto: not waiting to get all the kin and friends together next week. No, it’s between the individual and God; with the servant of God, sent by God, to administer this requirement from God.
“Baptism is how you get saved.”
Nowhere in Scripture does it say baptism saves a person. The ordinance of baptism is a public confession of faith in Jesus Christ. It is the next step AFTER salvation.
It’s a SYMBOL of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.”
Be wary of religions that make up stuff.
1 Peter 3:18
For Christ also died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit; in which he went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly did not obey, when God’s patience waited in the days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Coincidence that you are “shadowlands” and posting about C.S. Lewis. (You know ... the movie.)
If he studying Lewis, then there’s a great chance he is saved. Wonderful thing.
And without fail, sanctimonious blowholes show up to pass judgement.
I have really come to like Mr. Brand in the last few years. His podcast is very interesting, and while I disliked him in his Hollywood days — his conversion is really fascinating. He’s intellectually honest, which I’d never thought I’d ever say.
He’s a Free-Thinker. Something we need more of these days.
Yes, my handle is derived from the CS Lewis biopic. There were actually two films made from it, one a theatrical film the other a TV movie.
I agree with you, if you want to read a convincing argument for Christianity, “Mere Christianity” would be it.
“If you look at the instances of water baptism in Acts, you will notice it was not delayed. It was done pronto: not waiting to get all the kin and friends together next week.”
Your interpretation of that verse is contrary to everything I’ve ever learned in church, and pretty much every source that comes up when you search “baptism”. Nobody says anything about family and friends, or waiting, just a “public demonstration”. You’re making a straw man argument about...baptism? Well....okay. You can have the last word. I’m not debating this.
Absolutely beautiful!!
“If you look at the instances of water baptism in Acts, you will notice it was not delayed.”
That is my understanding also, not “we’ll be back in six months when we do our biannual baptismal service and baptize you then.”
