Why Knowing The Imminency Of The Rapture Is So Critical For Believers
HARBINGER'S DAILY ^ | APRIL 8, 2024 | JONATHAN BRENTNER

Posted on 04/08/2024 5:41:17 PM PDT by Texan4Life

The silence in most churches regarding our “blessed hope” makes our expectation all the more difficult to maintain. On top of that, many of our Christian friends and family members believe it’s irrational to regard the Rapture as something that might happen anytime soon or even in our lifetime. Many in our churches think we are crazy for believing that there is such a thing as the Rapture or a seven-year Tribulation.

In spite of the long wait and scoffing that comes my way, I remain convinced that imminency is not only incredibly important for today, but also an essential aspect of our walk with the Savior.

It’s the passages in 2nd. Timothy that is quoted out of context to prove this Rapture; since you’re a believer in that, then you must be quoting or referencing Timothy.

True, so therefor there is no such thing as a secret Rapture, people suddenly disappearing.

Here is what God revealed in His Word...

"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air"

I certainly didn't say it was secret.

God says it will happen.

(are you saying this passage is not an inspired part of God's Scripture and will not happen??)

Surely those left on earth will notice less traffic??

So certainly not secret.

We simply do not know when it will happen.

I quoted I Thessalonians 4.

Not Timothy.

If you want to look at the context of I Thessalonians 4, you will find your case getting weaker.

During the 2nd. Coming, not some sort of Rapture.

Well they both begin with a “T” so my mistake but yeah, 1st. Thess. 4 - but you have to read the whole chapter for it to make sense; BTB, the Bible was not written in chapter and verse, that fracturing of the Bible didn’t come about until the 1500’s by two different people, one chopped it up into chapters and another guy into verses - the average being 17.5 words per verse which is why John 3:16 and 17 when read separately is awkward.

Agree.

I've studied the whole book and outlined it verse by verse.

Also most of the rest of Scriture.

During the 2nd. Coming, not some sort of Rapture.

The Second Coming is about Christ coming to earth to slay His enemies and reign.

The great snatch is about Him calling believers to meet Him in the clouds to be with Him forever.

Two different events in two different timeframes.

The simple fact is, as this passage (Rev 5:8) shows: The saints in heaven offer to God the prayers of the saints on earth.

Now, are these saints biblical saints in that they are believers in Christ OR are they Roman Catholic saints using the Roman Catholic definition of saint...which will be a completely different understanding.

Well for 1800 years or so no mention of any Rapture in church history was ever mentioned; all those people were looking for the 2nd. Coming. Only fundamental churches believe in any sort of Rapture.

Praying for each other is simply part of what Christians do. As we saw, in 1 Timothy 2:1–4, Paul strongly encouraged Christians to intercede for many different things, and that passage is by no means unique in his writings. Elsewhere Paul directly asks others to pray for him (Rom. 15:30–32, Eph. 6:18–20, Col. 4:3, 1 Thess. 5:25, 2 Thess. 3:1), and he assured them that he was praying for them as well (2 Thess. 1:11).

And in all of those instances those prayers were to God; they were people on earth praying for other people on earth.

In not one instance were we ever taught to pray to Mary nor do we see people seeking her out for her intervention.

And please....don't offer the wedding at Cana for your support.

Most fundamentally, Jesus himself required us to pray for others, and not only for those who asked us to do so (Matt. 5:44).

And more fundamentally and of utmost importance....when His disciples asked Him to teach them to pray what did He do?

Give them the Hail Mary? Nope.

Give them a rosary? Nope?

A scapular? Nope.

Miraculous medal? Nope.

An admonition to pray to anyone dead? Nope.

Rather He taught them to pray to the Father.

The clear Biblical principle is all prayer is directed to God. No one else.

Should try reading a version of the Bible with no chapter or verses, you’ll find it quite a bit different than books fractured into chapter and verse. See: http://raylcross.net/flatBible/

IF you want to be really serious...try reading it in the Greek....without the word divisions!

Not so.

The Roman’s followed Augustine from the 400s, persecuting believers who disagreed. Many starting in Scripture taught the imminent return.

But

Modern or Koine? Modern Green has two more letters than Koine Greek. How do you translate?

But no Rapture doctrine. It was other ordinances and doctrines that they were persecuted for if they didn’t adhere or believe in them. I won’t add the accesses the church did during the Middle Ages.
