Rob Reiner’s ‘God & Country: The Rise Of Christian Nationalism’ film opened up this weekend at the box office, and to the surprise of all progressives and no conservatives, it absolutely bombed, bringing in a mere $38,415 over an extended four-day weekend.
The film opened in 85 theaters, averaging $451 a theater over four days, which is incredibly low. Assuming it had at least one showing each day (and likely it had several), it brought in around 112 dollars a day, or ten people a day spread across however many showings.
We’ve talking three or five people per showing, on average.
We’ve written before about the film, featuring the who’s who of bad faith liberals, such as Jemar Tisby, David French, Kristin Kobes Du Mez, Phil Vischer, Skye Jethani, William Barber, Russell Moore, and which alleges that politically active conservative Christians (all lumped together under the label “Christian Nationalism”) don’t understand True Christianity and have let politics subsume their faith.
The truth however if you take a look at who is delivering this message, it becomes clear this is a case of DARVO (an acronym for “deny, attack, and reverse victim and offender”).
To a person, the film’s talking heads all display eye-socket logs of theological compromise in service of politics. In this series of articles, we showed how “experts” of “God And Country” are either firmly outside Christianity in theology and practice or deeply compromised on basic Christian ethics. Two examples of the former:
Meet ‘God + Country’ Talking Head Simone Campbell: A Queer-Affirming Zen Mystic Who Denies Jesus’s Miracles
Meet “God + Country” Talking Head Anthea Butler: Christian In Name Only, Quite Literally
Despite these folks shilling for their terrible movie, no one cared about it it, which is great because it had nothing valuable to say.
I usually like to watch films about topics the director and contributors are unaware and uneducated about. /s
Someone is bankrolling this for Reiner. Typically, Marxists don’t like to throw away their own money.
THE feel good post of the day! I just love when dollars spent by anti-Christians go down a rat hole.
I know nothing about this movie, but you usually hear the most barebones indie films costing in the low single digit of millions of dollars. So let’s be generous and speculate this one is $1 million. Proving once again that a fool and his money are soon parted
That's the ONLY thing that rubbed off on Carl Reiner's son.
He, like all "good little Marxists" these days, have bullied comedy from the public square.
Watch how much the upcoming “Cabrini” movie, made by the director of “The Sound Of Freedom” makes. Theaters are already selling out ahead of the March 8 opening. The dinosaur media will try to bury its success. They’ll fail. These people are losing power. Fewer are buying their pablum and there are so many alternative ways around them. A person could put a cat video on YouTube and get more than 10 views a day.
I identify as an unashamed Christian Nationalist and don’t consider it a slur. I’d probably watch the movie just for a laugh, if I didn’t have to pay for it.
The Rise of Meathead bombs at the box office
Doesn’t matter.
I mean I’m sure Reiner would have loved it if he made money at the box office, but the whole point of making these propaganda pieces is so that they can go to cable and be run endlessly by HBO and Vice and other left leaning networks to try to influence as many people as they can.
This formula goes all the way back to MIchael MOore and Al Gore.
Put it on HBO all they want this piece of drek still won’t have any audience.
WHO is Rob Reinhart?
possibly even further back to when CNN owner Ted Turner made a 24 part series “the Cold War”. It seemed like comparisons were made such as “they (Soviets) had the Gulag, and we (USA) had Kent State. This series is probably still available to view today.
When Marxists pretend to be Christians for the purpose of attacking them, you get a potpourri of outright lies that just shows a bad attempt to mask the seething hatred below. They’re so predictable it’s boring.
He was a writer for the Smothers Brothers and The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour along with Mason Williams, Steve Martin, and a few others.
Rise Of Christian Nationalism? I wish.
