I’ve been trying to put my finger on the Taylor Swift phenomenon for some time now. Evidently people pay obscene amounts of money to see her, and she is breaking world records on her latest tour. By all accounts (well, not quite all) it’s worth seeing, as Miss Swift parades out on the stage in outfit after outfit and dazzles swarms of people with a show like Superbowl halftime on crack.
What’s going on here really, though?

Madonna, before social media had that Inanna effect.
Crowds want to worship something.
My granddaughter wanted to take her friend to a concert in Boston. She needed some money so she asks gramma. Also they needed a ride and the concert probably didn’t end until after 11 pm. She suggested we get a room and drive home the next morning. She did all of the research for pricing, from tickets to gas, eats, to rooms. Over 5 grand for the 3 of us. She said, “ I kept it as cheap as possible. “ I told her it was 2 months of wages .
She could work for me part time and pay it off .
We didn’t go.
She is into Satanism. Weird things happen at her concerts.
Yes I saw a YouTube video that showed her connection to witchcraft
When I think about a Rolling Stones concert, I picture Baby Boomers, aged 65-75, who paid $1-2000 for each ticket. They’ve got money. Might as well spend it before they die. That’s their business.
When I think about a Taylor Swift concert, I picture a lot of teenage granddaughters who got Grandma to pay $1-2000 for each ticket. I guess some Grandmas or parents fall for this. Glad you didn’t.
my one outstanding question...As a modern pied piper, is she leading her following toward the proverbial cliff or away from it?
“Every populist movement is essentially spiritual. It is essentially the cry of souls who long to be part of something bigger and truer than themselves...”
I don’t know anything about Taylor Swift, but I do know that that statement is complete crap. I like Trump because the nation is being completely destroyed and he can stop it. It has nothing to do with me wanting to be part of something bigger and truer than me. It is that I don’t want to see the greatest nation on earth destroyed by a gang of demoniacs.
Forgot to add lesbian.
Yep.
Catchy tunes and parent approved....at least for todays’ entertainer crowd. Young girls adore her, parents will pay for them to attend concerts. Who can say ‘no’?
This all drives up demand...i.e. tickets = $$$$
Get a grip on your celebrity worship. You come off pathetic.
Being satanic doent hurt either.
Lesbian?
She has written a number of songs about broken heart breakups, she is currently and has been dating an NFL football star for a few months.
I am not a fan. But then, I wouldn’t be, that is expected. I have rarely been a starry-eyed fan of any celebrity except, well...the likes of George Washington.
I admire her ability to make money, and there are a lot of people who find her entertaining even if I am indifferent to it.
That said, I found the entire Princess Diana thing completely weird and bizarre back then, and I still do today. To me, it was a strange mass psychosis.
“It’s not o her credit that she’s consistently hired the right people at the right time.”
Including producers who can auto tune her recordings to make it sound like she can carry a tune.
I dont get it either, she just seems like an average run of the mill pop singer to me.
These types are always exposed for what they truly are with enough time. I predict in 20 years most wont even remember her.
Get a grip, if you can’t recognize success when it’s staring you in the face, then you need a self-examination. A bunch of Freepers are having a civil discussion about a current topic and along comes your comments, it’s pathetic.

That’s not unique, it has happened throughout history, especially to entertainers.
The Beetles and Elvis has the same type of affect on the public, even some athletes, look at the reaction to Muhammad Ali and currently Lionel Messi.
Adjust your butt plug. It’s clouding your thinking.
