Marjorie Taylor Greene: I Was Raised Catholic, but Wicked Bishops Have ‘Driven Me Away’ from the Church

‘Mrs. Greene's statement about leaving the Church is as enlightening as it is saddening,’ commented Michael Hichborn, president of the Lepanto Institute.

(LifeSiteNews) – Following criticism of comments she made about the U.S. Catholic bishops, conservative firebrand U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed that she was raised Catholic but left the Church “with great sorrow” when she had kids because she had concerns about the left-wing hierarchy protecting abusive priests.

“With great sorrow, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, I stopped attending Catholic Mass when I became a mother, because I realized that I could not trust the Church’s leadership to protect my children from pedophiles, and that they harbored monsters even in their own ranks,” the now-evangelical said in a lengthy statement.

The Georgia Republican was responding to the Catholic League’s Bill Donahue, who slammed her for suggesting in an interview with Church Militant’s Michael Voris that “Satan is controlling the Church.”

“The Church is not doing its job. And it’s not adhering to the teachings of Christ,” she added.

“It’s the Church leadership I was referring to when I invoked the Devil,” Greene clarified on Twitter. “Just so we’re clear, bishops, when I said ‘controlled by Satan,’ I wasn’t talking about the Catholic Church. I was talking about you.”

“The Catholic Church must throw out these monsters instead of lecturing the people its own bishops have driven away,” she continued, blasting the U.S. Catholic bishops as “some of the worst in the world” and “scheming bureaucrats in miters.” It was the “bishops’ wickedness” that drove her out of the Church, Greene said, and her own refusal to “submit the spiritual and physical livelihood of my children to these monsters.”

Greene, who is sometimes referred to as “MTG” (à la “AOC”), went on to say what many faithful Catholics who.......

Luircin - the different philosophies since Martin Luther have their own interpretations.

There are cults - I believe yours southernclaire (though it could be someone else), who believe that Jesus did not drink wine i.e. alcohol. They fight that this was grape juice.

As a result of the reformatting, basically anyone made up their own interpretation.

You, Luircin, believe that the Eucharist is the TRUE PRESENCE OF the Body and blood of Christ. But SC and Phil disagree with you.

You, Luircin, as a Lutheran, would reject aspects of the pre-tribulation rapture philosophy as does Phil.

So, if basically anyone interprets as he/she likes, well then.... chaos with Adventists

Wrong person, Cronos. I’ve never said such a thing.

Those dead in sin don’t look for truth; they look for what’s comfortable.

Why else do you think the Catholics are so mad? They were sitting comfortably in their ‘one true church’ and then their church betrayed them by embracing sin. But they don’t want truth because otherwise they would genuinely consider (and not even decide, but just consider) the idea that they might have been wrong about ‘one true church.’

What they want is their comfort back.

Same for poor Phil. He doesn’t show any care about truth; if he did he would answer challenges with more than strawmen and ignoring what he doesn’t want to hear. What his posts show is the same thing that people who want to be affirmed in their false faith and melt down when challenged.

Phil The SDA’s “interpretation” of the bible is right. Your interpretation isn’t.

Both of you base your interpretation on basically your own opinions or on people who lived 1800+ years after the Apostles.

Don't you think you are BOTH wrong?

After all, you both reject the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, but Luircin as a Lutheran does not -- as Martin Luther wrote

Who, but the devil, has granted such license of wresting the words of the holy Scripture? Who ever read in the Scriptures, that my body is the same as the sign of my body? or, that is is the same as it signifies? What language in the world ever spoke so? It is only then the devil, that imposes upon us by these fanatical men. -

I’m still waiting for an apology regarding your falsehoods about me so many weeks back.

Until you actually show some kind of Catholic penance, I have to assume that you don’t really believe in Catholicism. Or you’re just being an unrepentant hypocrite, which is a mortal sin anyways.

In either case, your posts aren’t worth reading.

Just what cult would that be, Cronos?

He’s trying to drive that wedge in, and not doing a good job of hiding it.

It’s the only thing he can do, considering how his arguments in favor of his chosen cult always instantly fall apart.

“Those dead in sin don’t look for truth; they look for what’s comfortable.”

You hit the nail all over the head in your post, Lu. It’s easy to believe what others tell you to believe; not so easy to study to find out what God says. And what God says can get very uncomfortable at times, but we take it and accept it, as it’s His word for us.

Again, great post.

“You’d think a SADventist would care that their false prophet stole, violated the rules she claimed were from God, etc.”

She’s gonna find herself in a real pickle on judgment day.

And it won't be a barrel!

BTW, I'm old enough to vaguely remember the vinegar pickle barrel at the Flourville Store. I preferred to oogle the candy jars and fresh apples.

“And it won’t be a barrel!”

You got that right, MHG! She may really find herself in need of a cooling barrel by the end of things.

And a wet girdle.

After reading all the false prophecies and lies and plagiarism and deceit of the ‘prophetess ‘ of the SDA, you wonder how dumb someone has to be to continue in that cult?

Because they’re not looking for truth; they want what’s comfortable. And in some cases, to try to make other people say that it’s okay for them to hang around in what’s comfortable.
