Denying communion to Catholic politicians is ‘toxic,’ N.J.’s Cardinal Tobin warns fellow bishops
Sitting in his office in New Jersey, Cardinal Joseph Tobin looked into his computer’s camera and urged his fellow Catholic bishops to kill a proposal that could lead to denying Holy Communion to political leaders who support abortion rights.
The move could “drive a wedge” between Americans and the Catholic Church, Tobin told the members of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops gathered online for the high-profile debate.
“Any effort by this conference to move in support of the categorical exclusion of Catholic political leaders from the Eucharist based on their public policy positions will thrust the bishops of our nation into the very heart of the toxic partisan strife which has distorted our own political culture and crippled meaningful dialogue,” Tobin said.
He vowed to vote “no” on the proposal.
But Tobin — the Archbishop of Newark and the highest ranking Catholic official in New Jersey — was in the minority.

It’s a time for choosing. Does the church speak a timeless truth, or do they blow in the wind for reasons of power in the way that any other organization does?

It’s real simple Joseph, either you have and hold to principles or you don’t. If you don’t you are a waste of oxygen and do not deserve to be here.
Making special accommodations and excusing offensive behavior because you wish to curry favor puts you in the second category.

I am so tired of people calling loving, compassionate behavior toxic, because it doesn't allow them to pursue the passions of their perverted, sin-sick hearts. I'm a LCMS Lutheran and we don't allow people in open sin or those who haven't been instructed in the doctrine of the church to commune out of LOVE. We don't want them to eat and drink damnation on themselves. It's not because we're haters or because we want to call them out. It's because we want them to repent, to know what they're receiving, and to receive it rightly, thus receiving the gifts that Communion is intended to convey to the believer. These people sound like the passive parent who says, "Oh, let's not make Junior hate us. If he wants to stick the fork in the socket, we should let him." Not very loving towards Junior, by my reckoning, but hey, at least Junior's not upset.

Well now, when exactly has GOD ever been afraid of a little toxicity?? When he tested Job? When he punished Sodom and Gomorrah? How about when he allowed his only son to be hung up on a cross to die? Seems "toxic" to today's woke crowd.
Sadly this is the Catholic church's attempt at testing the "sanctuary" rules. What sin shall we give sanctuary to next? Adultery? Blasphemy (LOL that seems ironic to even say in the face of this Tobin opinion!!)? How about Murder? or Serial Murder? I mean if abortion is no longer a "sin" than what is exactly?
When did the Catholic Church give up on teaching the word of God and the commandments and wholly commit to being bleeding heart Karens with NO conviction or commitment?!

So Cardinal Tobin, what should we do? Should we sit quietly while these slobs are slautering young human beings? You are a man with no guts. You simply do not want to be hurt politically, much like Pope Francis. Get some guts. Stand up and be a man and take a stand against the killing of all these children.
