Guest Op-Ed: 500th anniversary of the excommunication of arch-heretic, Martin Luther

This Sunday, January 3, 2021, is the 500th anniversary of the excommunication of Martin Luther as a heretic and schismatic – the greatest damage ever done to the Holy Catholic Church. He died unrepentant, without the sacraments and outside the One True Church.

Yes, Pope Leo X, who issued the excommunication decree and the previous Exsurge Domine warning (6/15/1520) to Luther, had a mixed record of papal righteousness – but in this event he is nearly unsurpassed and fairly vindicated.

In this writer's view, these documents are two of the most formidable, necessary and courageous decrees emanating from the Chair of Peter, defending the Holy Roman Catholic Church from doctrinal attack. They were subsequently, fully upheld by the Council of Trent – also one of the greatest Councils in Church history – to which we owe very much, especially on the Eucharist!

We still face great danger. With Luther, there was no warning, just 95 absurd theses appearing out of thin air.

Here today, we had a warning in 1917 at Fatima. “Russia will spread her errors throughout the world,” did Our Lady alert the three children and us Catholics.

We feel these effects today – a far more serious warning than Luther. In full deference to Our Lady and the Most Holy Trinity – it is extremely doubtful (despite assertions to the contrary) that the full, correct Consecration to Russia was done; or that the decisive 3rd Secret text was totally revealed.

The errors, it is said, will lead to “The Great Apostasy.” There seems no appetite in the Vatican, at any level, to humbly accept and remedy those grave errors. Rather, a desire to hurtle into the future with Pachamama; Amazon Culture; ecology; and global secular solutions – as moral virtue is completely ignored and vocations and faithful Catholics disappear at record speeds.

Will the Church (and our Country) continue its decline? Will we still continue to receive God’s Divine Mercy and Graces? Are we due for a severe Divine Chastisement?

I am not going to advance an opinion here – only to charitably say, we would all do well to place our own souls in a state of grace, and urge our families, friends and others to do the same.

And Pray. God is very good.

Jesus rebuked 6 of the 7 churches in Revelation as he gives all free will to accept or reject God.

Ahem: Every one of those churches were Catholic; according to what I read posted by Catholics on FR.

They sure went off the rails quickly!

Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.”

HMMMmmm...

1 Thessalonians 4:13
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

Daniel 12:2
Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52
Listen, I tell you a mystery:
We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

Looks like Scripture disagrees with the Catholic claim that believers are in heaven RIGHT NOW; doesn't it!

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 King James Version (KJV)

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Dead in Christ?

I thought Rome says the 'in Christ' folks are already in Heaven?

Then what's this RAISING that is being bandied about here?

“did not dare pronounce against him an abusive judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

Notice the inferiority of Michael here in Jude 9, GOD, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit is never inferior to Satan.

Luke 4:35 makes it clear that Jesus can and does rebuke Satan. See the difference one dare not rebuke and the other rebuked, so they are not one in the same.

Luke 4:34, the demon says are you here to destroy us, but in Jude 9 he didn’t even have the power to rebuke Satan let alone destroy him.

Jesus has many names, but Michael isn’t one of them.

Notice how it always takes several angels to defeat Satan and his demons, but it ONLY takes the one GOD to send them packing.

If Michael was Jesus as you claim he would have rebuked Satan himself, but he didn’t.

“WHY would anyone even consider wasting time praying to anyone else?”

My philosophy has always been why go to a mere servant when I can go straight to the KING Himself.

Your comment: “Ahem: Every one of those churches were Catholic; according to what I read posted by Catholics on FR.

They sure went off the rails quickly!”

So you confirm that Jesus established the Catholic Church, and Jesus rebukes 6 of the 7 Catholic Churches (a portion of the total Catholic churches). Christ will judge the churches for their deeds, rewarding the righteous with eternal life and repaying the wicked with everlasting death. (Rev 2:23)

Yes! Jesus warned us “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way easy, that leads to destruction, and those that enter it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life. and those that find it are few.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad trees bear evil fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits.” Mt 7:13-20

So I hope that you follow God’s Truth and not the 40,000 plus versions that the ministry of false prophets breeds error, division, and immorality. 2Peter2:1-3 Even the Catholic church has had its share of false teachers (Luther, McCarrick, etc). God has did not spare the angels or flood upon the world, Sodom, Judas, etc.

Follow the ways of Jesus and not the ways of the world.

You quote the Scriptures to make a point, but obviously ignore key parts and undersatnding that dispute your claim.

If you accept the Apostles Creed, then you accept everlasting life. I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob... He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” Mt 22

“And do not fear those that kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell” MT 10:28 That soul in Hell still has everlasting life.

Your claim of dead bodies that are asleep until the final coming of Jesus (the resurrection of the body), but our souls are still alive and spiritual beings like the angels. Just remember that when you die you could be suffering alive in Hell or Purgatory or be with God in Heaven as a saint.

God calls to pray and intercede on behalf of others and even for our enemies. (Mt 5:44)

Jesus incessantly intercedes for us.

Because of the Blessed Mother Mary singular cooperation with the action of the Holy Spirit, the Church loves to pray in communion with the Virgin Mary, to magnify with her the great things the Lord has done for her, and to entrust supplications and praises to her.

We do not pray (ask) to Mary in the same way we pray to God. We ask for her intercession on behalf of our needs, whereas when we pray to God we ask him directly for gifts and favors. Mary interceded for a couple at Cana and Jesus performed a miracle in response.

As Mother of the Church, Mary continues to pray with a Mother’s care for the Body of her Son on Earth.

Throughout Church history, saints have left a heritage of prayer “by the example of their lives, the transmissions of their writings,” and their continued prayers in heaven on our behalf. Miracles have been attributed to our intercession of prayers to saints.

With the whole Communion of Saints and all God’s people on earth, we pray for the needs of all members of the Church, living and dead.

“The end of things is at hand; therefore keep sane and sober in your prayers. Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. “ 1Petwer 4:7-8

“you mock the second greatest commandment that Jesus gave us.”

How exactly did I do this?

“You ignore the prayers of the elders in Heaven for us.(Rev 11:16)”

What prayers are you speaking of this says nothing about prayers of the elders.

“Perhaps the 7 churches in Revelation are a forewarning of the multiple protestant churches”

Clearly only one church that claims to be Christian worships and serves Jezebel and you guessed it... you romans.

It is and absolute warning to the Protestant Church’s make no mistake about that. The difference adsum is that you swallow all of rome’s trash according to her catechism which you must follow or be damned.

I DON’T follow any head man/church teachings, I READ the Bible myself and am responsible for my own soul just as Scripture commands us, Romans 14:12. When you stand in front of Jesus the righteous Judge you will stand by yourself, your pope nor your mary will be by your side. Pleading ignorance or “that is what rome told me” will not count. Gal 6:4.

“The biblical support for the concept of a Church containing sinners”

You are making stuff up again i never ever have disputed that we are sinners. Its you romans that make certain people out to be non sinners. This I can tell you that a church that sanctions idol worship is not a Church of Jesus Christ and the church of Thyatira is proof that as a whole the roman church is headed to hell, Rev 2.

“God’s revealed Truths Peter and successors as the leader of His Church on earth,”

There are no human successors because we have the Holy Spirit of GOD, John 16:7. The whole purpose of the Holy Spirit is to teach and lead the Church of Jesus, John 14:26.

The leader of the Church on earth, under the earth, and in heaven is Jesus Christ, Eph 5:23. I’m sorry that your god is so contained and busy that he can’t rule and reign in heaven and on earth, but the true living GOD does both, Matt 28:18.

“perpetual virginity, immaculate conception and Assumption of His Blessed Mother into Heaven.”

All products of Satan and and abomination in the eyes of GOD! Fallen is Babylon the whore of rome.

Strange how you romans hang on to those attributes of the false mary you have made, but yet it took 1800 years to codify the language and not one word in 66 books of the Bible.

“Following heretical beliefs of sola scriptura”

2 Tim 3:16-17
16All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work.

Read it adsum understand it especially v.17,
fully capable and equipped for EVERY good work. Nothing else is needed adsum it is very clear.

“Pray for one another” “The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects.” James 5:16”

The audience was living on planet earth, no where does it ever hint as praying to anybody but GOD.

” But if the saints in heaven are offering our prayers to God, then they must be aware of our prayers.”

If one is versed in the Bible whether here or there they would be aware that the smoke of the incense signified the prayers of ALL past, present, and future saints, Rev 8:3. Even souls in hades are aware of the prayers represented by the smoke of incense, but that doesn’t indicate anything.

If we read Psalm 141:2 we can see that it is symbolic wording, let my prayers be as sweet as incense before you GOD. If we keep studying we see in Rev that the smoke is separate from the prayers of the saints.

Rev 8:4
And the smoke of the incense ascended from the angel’s hand with the prayers of the saints before God.

So lesson learned is that the prayers go straight to God through Jesus Christ with additional help from the Holy Spirit. The saints are not part of the hearing formula, but are symbolic of our prayers.

“God expects us to pray for one another. We see this in both the Old and New Testaments. Gen 20:7; Job 42:8; Romans 15:30-32; James 5:16-17”

All those verse are directed to the living mortal on earth praying to GOD, not saints in heaven.

One verse that a living mortal prayed to a living or dead mortal not deity in heaven.

“The saints in Heaven are part of the Body of Christ and are righteous, and Jesus told us to pray for one another.”

Yes and they are worshipping GOD through our Lord Jesus not delivering messages. In case you missed it GOD’s messengers are angels, Heb 1:14.

You romans just don’t study the Word enough to comprehend the deeper meanings. You read just one verse and run with it and it is almost always out of context.

“just one ADSUM... JUST ONE”

I guess you don’t understand scripture from previous post:
Your false belief that saints in Heaven are dead. Perhaps you can read Mt 27:52. “the tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised”. Perhaps you should read about the Transfiguration.”

Again, everything you wrote didn’t address the evidence requested.

Give me one example JUST ONE of a mortal on earth praying to a “LIVE” or dead mortal (non-deity) in heaven...

“Church loves to pray in communion with the Virgin Mary”

Romans love to worship and serve a demon that preaches a false gospel of idolatry. It is easy to spot adsum the lie is right in front of you “virgin” that is non-applicable at this point.

The lie is so obviously right in front of you and you won’t accept it.

“praises to her.”

There you go worship and serving another god. The real Mary would not want praised for anything she was to humble and also realized she was a sinner in need of a saving GOD.

“We do not pray (ask) to Mary in the same way we pray to God.”

Tell me the difference again.

rcc’s pray to mary and their god
rcc’s bow to mary and their god
rcc’s kneel to mary and their god
rcc’s offer sacrifice to mary and their god
rcc’s serve mary and their god
rcc’s get grace from mary and from their god

“Mary continues to pray with a Mother’s care for the Body of her Son on Earth.”

She’s not praying she is right in front of the KING adsum, seriously. What she is doing is on her face praising, worshipping, and giving thanks for GOD’s tremendous grace to save a sinner as she was.

“saints have left a heritage of prayer”

Oh yes you romans can quite every writer for your pagan beliefs, but you can’t quote one writer of Scripture that justifies you abdominal prayers to any non-deity.

“and their continued prayers in heaven on our behalf.”
Not one of them went to heaven and came back with that proof, but Paul did and he said pray to GOD.

“Miracles have been attributed to our intercession of prayers to saints.”

According to rome, but then again you and they bought the whole worship a demon through a rosary and shrines even though Paul warned about such things. Satan is granting your miracles, so that you will keep worshipping at his feet.

“we pray for the needs of all members of the Church, living and dead.”

I thought you said they wasn’t dead... which is it adsum? If you are going to hold my feed to the fire on that then I expect you to hold your own feet to the fire.

Again prove it...

Similar situation in Zechariah with Joshua the high priest. Starts off by saying the ANGEL OF THE LORD. Then in verse 2, it says THE LORD SAID UNTO SATAN (the Angel of the Lord being JESUS CHRIST)

And then, Mrobisr, it says THE LORD REBUKE THEE, just like it does in Jude 1:9. It is Jesus Christ rebuking Satan. Same as in Jude 9, with Michael the Archangel being Jesus Christ)

And then even more proof, Mrobiser, he is called the LORD OF HOSTS. The hosts are the angels. Same as the Captain of the Lord’s hosts in Josh 5, WHERE JOSHUA FELL ON HIS FACE AND WORSHIPED HIM. Joshua was also told to take his shoes off because the place where he was standing was holy, BECAUSE IT WAS JESUS CHRIST HE WAS TALKING TO.

Zechariah 3: verses 7, 9, and 10 call him the Lord of Hosts

Angel of the Lord = Jesus Christ
Michael the Archangel = Jesus Christ
Angel of the covenant = Jesus Christ
Captain of the Lord’s host = Jesus Christ

IT IS JESUS CHRIST. How clear does it have to be for you to understand that?

1And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

2And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

3Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.

4And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

5And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.

6And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying,

7Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

8Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.

9For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

10In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

That's just a bunch of easily disprovable nonsense.

There's a plethora of prayers to Mary asking her to do things for people that only God can do.

It's not just simply asking her to pray to God for us and a simple search of prayers to Mary will prove that beyond the shadow of a doubt.

People in hell aren’t dead either, so that argument does not hold water.

The rationalization that Catholics engage in to disobey the clear teaching of Scripture about prayer and to justify their prayers to dead people is staggering.

They hang on to the prayers to Mary and their so-called *saints* with a death grip that defies imagination.

I don’t know what they think will happen to them if they stop praying to anyone but God and prayed to Him alone as directed in Scripture, but I would love to know what it is, because it defies logic and common sense.

Oh you dodged the whole inferior part of Michael in Jude didn’t you?

The Angel of the LORD did indeed rebuke Satan in Zechariah, V.2, but old Mike didn’t do it in Jude.

The Angel of the LORD IS Jesus Christ, agreed and I never argued that, but your assertion that Michael is Jesus is absolutely proven false between Jude 9 and Zechariah.

I do believe your Michael is Jesus is done, stick a fork in that dogma. If done in Zechariah it would have been done in Jude 9, but it wasn’t.

“They hang on to the prayers to Mary and their so-called *saints* with a death grip that defies imagination.”

I would guess that is becuase they don’t have the Father/child relationship, so they don’t have the comfort that we do to go straight to the KING.

“defies logic and common sense.”
What defies logic to me is that it took 1800 years to codify the dogma of the false mary, but yet they think it was from the beginning. They make it such a big deal, but their own church apparently didn’t or it would not have taken 1800 years to put it into their official writings.

Jesus is the KING of Israel, Luke 23:3, even Pilate granted that, Mark 15:9.

So you confirm that Jesus established the Catholic Church,...

No; that is ROME's claim; and you KNOW it!

What I've shown; over and over and over; from SCRIPTURE; is that Catholic teachings didn't take hold very good in the early church.

So you folks have a logical dilemma.

Not my fault that it's this way; so why complain when I illustrate it?
