Father, in the name of Jesus, we note that in Your Word You repeat the story of Your deliverance of the rebellious and ungrateful people You brought out of Egypt many times. We, the people of the United States of America, have been rebellious and ungrateful as well, disregarding the glorious foundation on which You built our Nation.
In this time of repentance called by our spiritual leaders, we confess our sins before You. Like the sons of Israel, we...even sacrificed our little children to the demon spirits,” shedding the innocent blood of our sons and daughters. As among the Israelites, these dark practices greatly defile us and our own souls, through the murder and bloodshed of our own babies! Our sins have made us spiritual adulterers before you.
As with the Israelites, we believe you have waited and waited, watching to see if we would turn and cry out to you for a father’s help. As You did for them do so for us. We cry out to You in repentance and seek forgiveness. Relent and remember your covenant with Your Church and turn your heart toward us, according to your abundant, overflowing, and limitless love. Free us from the strong power of those who oppress us and rescue us from bondage. We look to You to let the waters rush over our enemies and save those who will turn their hearts to You or make their weapons against us fail.
Do it again, Lord! Save us, O Lord, our God! Gather us from our exile and unite us together so that we will give our great and joyous thanks to you again and bring you glory by our praises. Blessed be our Lord God forever and ever. And let everyone everywhere say, “Hallelujah!” Amen! Faithful is our King!” (From Psalm 106)
