Iraq’s Prime Minister Encourages Christians to Return

Mustafa Al-Kazemi calls Christians “the original children of the country” and pledges assistance.

Christians are the “original children of the country,” said the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mustafa Al-Kazemi.

Al-Kazemi encouraged Christians who left Iraq in recent years to return to their homeland, Vatican News said, citing a report in the Assyrian International News Agency (AINA).

Al-Kazemi on Sunday met with Cardinal Louis Raphael I Sako, the Chaldean Catholic Patriarch, and a number of other bishops in Baghdad. The patriarch said there are a large number of Christians who want to return.

“The Church supports Al-Kazemi’s steps towards achieving security and stability throughout Iraq,” said Patriarch Sako. “Christians are proud of their Iraqi identity, and they feel more reassured, in light of the serious handling of the Al-Kazemi government with the Christian file.”

According to a government statement, the prime minister said that “Iraq is the country for everyone, and that Christians are the original children of the country, and there is no difference between the people of the same country, as everyone is a partner in building the future of Iraq.” AINA reported that he said he was serious about providing assistance to Christian families and solving their problems.

“We are glad that Christians will return to Iraq and contribute to its reconstruction. Iraqis of all sects are yearning for a new Iraq that believes in peace and rejects violence,” said the prime minister, who assumed office May 7.

Isn’t Iraq a bit of a gimme ? I know The House of Saud is a big fish here. I don’t know if Iraq tips the scales much.

So Trump keeps doing one astounding thing after another.

Better make sure he doesn’t win. /s

I am probably very wrong but I think we have seen the last peaceful transition of power for a while at least, in the USA last time around.

MSM and deep state in the bag for one party does not a real victory make.

And Trump’s followers are more like Beatles fans were than traditional presidential supporters.

But, the Iraq War was a "failure", say a bunch of FReepers (who have apparently been brainwashed by leftist talking points for years so they now accept that POV.) I guess things were much better under Saddam!

Personally, I vastly prefer the government they have now:

“Come on back and give us another chance!” (to kill you ‘cause we missed a few of you Christians last time)...

Once Iraqis get established in another Western Country, it is hard to get many to go back. Security is a big consideration.

I saw a few go back after the Ba’ath party was removed from power, to take Government positions. I saw some go back when Ayatollah Sistani called for people to fight ISIS.

But I don’t see what would draw a lot of Christians back, once they are safely settled in the West. Those living on a temporary basis in other countries (like the UAE or Turkey) might be better prospects.

Rather than getting Christians to return, maybe the real objective is just to slow the exodus. Pretty much any Christian who can get out, has been doing it.

The foreign jihadis have gone elsewhere to fight, but the Iraqi ISIS members largely went back home, and are still walking the streets.

The war against Saddam was super easy, barely an inconvenience. What happened after with the terrorist insurgency and then ISIS was the failure.

Al-Kadhimi might be ok, his predecessor was an Iranian puppet. They haven’t been run decently since the monarchy. What we needed was a pro-US strongman.
