Rejecting Christ
GracetoYou.org ^ | 1993 | John MacArthur, Grace Community Church

"For those who disbelieve, 'the stone which the builders rejected, this became the very corner stone,' and, 'a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense'; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed" (1 Pet. 2:7-8).

Rejecting Christ leads to spiritual damnation.

Israel was a unique nation, chosen by God to be the guardian of His Word and proclaimer of His kingdom. The Old Testament records His miraculous and providential care for her throughout the centuries, and the prophets told of One who would come as her great Deliverer. Israel eagerly awaited the promised Messiah.

But the story has a surprise ending. In the Person of Jesus Christ, the Messiah finally came and presented Himself to Israel. The religious leaders examined Him carefully, measuring Him in every way they could. But He didn't fit their blueprint. They expected a reigning political Messiah who would instantly deliver them from Roman oppression. They felt no need for a spiritual deliverer, so they rejected Him and tossed Him aside like a worthless rock.

That rejected cornerstone is precious to believers but remains a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to unbelievers. A "stone of stumbling" was a stone on which someone tripped while walking along the road. A "rock of offense" was a rock large enough to crush a person. The point: rejecting Christ brings spiritual devastation of enormous proportions.

All who reject Christ do so because they are disobedient to the Word. Rebellion against the written Word inevitably leads to rejection of the living Word. Of such people Peter said, "To this doom they were also appointed" (v. 8). They weren't appointed to reject Christ, but to receive the judgment that their rejection demands. That's a frightening reality that should motivate you to take every opportunity to evangelize the lost.

Suggestions for Prayer

If you have family or friends who are rejecting Christ, pray for them often, asking God to grant them saving faith.

For Further Study

Read Romans 9:30-10:17, noting Israel's false standard of righteousness and Paul's prayer for her salvation.

Salvation for one (no pun intended).
They lie about that daily - ask your local priest. He will tell you it includes membership in their organization.

Look, I was a Catholic for over 20 years. Saw it all.
Glad I left and was freed and SAVED.

You wish to believe their lies. That is on you. We’ve tried to warn you.

Jesus The Christ does not recognize that church or it’s hierarchy as having any authority over anything but a place under his footstool.

Would you rather trust God’s Word or your “church” organization about your Eternal Destiny?

Trust a church for your salvation that can't even guarantee it?

Join some so-called church, jump through all the Catholic hoops, only to find out in the end, when it's too late, that you didn't make it after all?

WHY would anyone want to do that?

Pride & false religion. Two hooks that send folks to hell daily by the tens of thousands (probably more).

I believe these people are scared to verify scriptures on their own. There’s a lot of fear in RCC folks when it comes to Eternal Salvation.

They look to the Whitewashed Tombs of their leadership for answers, and blindly follow. It’s a complete combo of laziness and blind trust that is a huge risk.

Ronald Reagan at least said “trust but verify”. Most Catholics are too lazy to verify.
Their own Pope is 100% proof that their own leadership is insane and leading them astray. Yet, they insist...

The indoctrination begins at birth.

It’s very hard to change that. The Holy Spirit has to open their eyes to see the inconsistencies in Catholic teaching and that usually happens after the salvation experience, when someone has finally given discernment and spiritual eyes to see.

Before that, they believe the most amazing contradictions and just write off the illogic of it as a *mystery of the faith*.

True.
I’m sure you had to “defend the RC faith” at some point and you did so, like me. We did exactly as they are doing. I don’t fault them.

We can pray that The Holy Spirit opens their eyes & heart to the truth. While there is still time.

Hallmarks of the Catholic faith:

-your religion teaches and believe you can eat the body and blood and divinity and get God into your flesh;

-your cult worships a female known to all as the Mother of Jesus, calling her the 'mother of God' and praying to her statues for aid and deliverance, believing she can save your soul (one of the list of titles given to this statuary is 'co-redemtrix, or co-mediatrix;

-your religion began teaching the false doctrine of purgatory with pope innocent, teaching poor souls that Jesus did not destroy ALL the sins of the world on His Cross so your adherents must go through a soulish (that's the flesh) cleansing in a mythical purgatory;

-your religion (that 'other religion' Paul referred to as anathema) teaches that an infant baptized by one of your priesthood become a saved person, but like a yo=yo religion that same baby can lose and regain salvation as they age and submit to your ORG (rhymes with Borg, appropriately);

-your religion denies that a human before the age of knowing right and wrong is destined for Hell unless they are baptized by one of your empowerment crazed priests (Jesus indicated that those little ones are in His heart and with Him should they die before the age of accountability)';

-your cult religion has asserted that one can buy their way our of time in the mythical purgatory; as if your ORG can buy and sell sanctification)';

-your religious ORG has made alterations to the Word of God rendering passages to have opposite meaning to the Greek and Hebrew texts (I will cite examples for you if you are ignorant of them, starting in Genesis and 'she will bruise your -satan's- heel);

-your cult has taken demonic visitiations with visual displays as 'the mother of god' commanding the rosary, etc (see the great lie of Fatima Portugal, where even a UFO silver disc was photographed in the sky over the crowd gathered who witnessed it and even wrote of it but have had their eye witness testimonies hidden away from public view);

-your pagan cult religion murdered thousands during its brutal campaign to murder all opposed to Rome and torture people into vowing fealty to Rome, as if your bloody murderers were god's handymen rather than the demonically directed fiends for satan's empowerment;

ADSUM you are a false mouthpiece, ignorant of what born again in the spirit means and pushing the Nicolaitan brand of 'work work work, follow perfectly the sacramental trail ushered by your dead soul priesthood, to obtain eternal life'. The Lord Rebuke you, Romanish cultist.

I remember when I was a teen thinking that Roman Catholics was the TRUE church.

Other Prot churches just didn’t quite get there yet. They were sorta Christians but just barely. I felt a lot of pride, too, at thinking that I belonged to the *correct* church while they didn’t. But once they knew better, they’d become Catholics too.

I felt sorry for them, but never had read the Bible at that point (being told I wasn’t allowed to; it was the job of the priests and nuns to do that and tell us what it meant. Because they were especially trained in that and only someone specially trained in religion could understand it and tell us what it meant.

So I never got to see the inconsistencies myself before I got saved and went out and bought my own Bible.

Imagine what a terrifying moment for millions, as they breathe their last, and wake up in the flames 🔥 of hell, and think, they have missed it at last. I can’t imagine spending all eternity, bitterly regretting my misfortune. 👎 I don’t feel like participating in that debacle. I would much prefer to be in Heaven. So, that is my plan. 😁🤪

Our security in Christ is a gift from God.

John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

John 6:37-39 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.

John 10:25-30 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.”

Romans 4:16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring-not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.

1 Corinthians 1:4-8 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus,that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge—even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you—so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

2 Corinthians 5:4-8 For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 2:13-14 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Hebrews 6:17-20 So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

Jude v24 "Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy"

1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

For which the Greek, from the Byzantine, is:

2Corinthians 1:21-22 ο δε βεβαιων ημας συν υμιν εις χριστον και χρισας ημας θεος ο και σφραγισαμενος ημας και δους τον αρραβωνα του πνευματος εν ταις καρδιαις ημων

The first word in bold above is “bebaion,” the idea of confirmation, frequently used in commercial settings to confirm a bargain. Which of course makes sense of the remaining terms used here, which are also elements of a secured contract.

The second word in bold above is “sphragisamenos,” being sealed is to be marked by the signature, signet ring, or other unique proof of identity, that we belong to God, and this sealing is done by God, who is the one taking action in this verse. We do not and cannot seal ourselves. We do not, by our own powers, have access to God’s “signet ring.”

The third bolded word above is “arrabona,” and indicates what we might loosely refer to as earnest money, but in Hebrew culture conveys more the idea of a pledge of covenant, a security given as a guarantee that the deal will go through, though we only receive part payment at the beginning. See ערב for the related Hebrew stem indicating “pledge.”

Your religion (not Christianity) is an ORG (rhymes with Borg, appropriately) run by a nicolaitan priesthood empowered by blasphemies and heresies, like elevating the blessed Mother of Jesus to co-mediatrix/coredemptrix status aand pushing the false notion of working the sacramental trail to obtain salvation via your ORG.

They reject him by sinning and not keeping His commandments.

You mean the 10 Commandments God gave to Israel??? Of course we can't keep those...That's why Jesus died...HE kept those Commandments for us because we couldn't...He became the Sacrifice for us...

But as far as the commandments Jesus gave to the world after his chosen people rejected him for the sinning world to become his church, you know, love God with all your heart; love your neighbor as you love yourself; believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved; those are things we CAN do...

They reject him by not praying and worshiping God as requested in first three commandments.

Huh??? What about the other nine???

They reject Him by rejecting the food and drink He gives us for our salvation(in the Eucharist). Read John Chapter 6

Your Catholic Eucharist is for your salvation??? What, some of you have to get saved every day??? You eat meat to get saved???

Mar 7:18  And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

And conversely, what ever goes into your stomach can not make a man holy or saved either...And why???

Mar 7:19  Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

What makes a man saved and holy is what goes into his heart, not his stomach...Born again Christians know that...

Why do you not agree with doctrines that Christ’s Catholic Church has given us?

Because the Catholic doctrines are built upon those things Jesus condemned...

We need to seek God’s Truth with reason and logic and not follow false teachers because it is easier or more comfortable.

Col_2:8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

1Co 3:18  Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1Co 3:19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

The Catholic's reason and logic are human philosophy...God says to avoid those like the plague...We are to seek and trust God's wisdom and knowledge...
