Ah yes,
The rapture.
One of those American born (dispensationalisms - thank you John Darby) ideas in that sea of 10,000 Christian flavors today where without any true traditions or apostolic succession we just reinvent Christianity.
If Luther would have known the unforeseen consequences...
You seem so sure of your smugness. Care to share?
I am thankful for John Darby. The Brethren Movement, Assemblies, Gospel Halls, have produced most of the best commentaries on the Bible I have ever read.
Whenever someone doubts the rapture I have two thoughts. One, why the snarky sneer? Two, what do you do with 1 Thess. 4?
he still would have left the corrupt church that wouldn’t reform itself.
The first several translation of the Bible from Greek to English and other languages used the word The Departure' when translating 2Thes 2:3. You can take 2 Thess 2:3 as a dual meaning possibly, the 'apostia' is a departing from the faith and the departure of those who belong to Christ before the lawless one can be revealed because He Who retsrains him is in us and until He is taken out of the way in our departure, the man of sin is restrained from release.
1 John 3:9 tells us it is God abiding in us, in our spirit. Thus it is His presence in our spirit which must be remobed from the earth in order for the restrained of the lawless one to be removed. Think: it is the salt bearers which are restraining the unfettered evil upon the Earth.
Ah yes,
The rapture.

Well and truly said and every word of it. More Fundy nonsense. Last time I checked the word “rapture” was nowhere to be found in the Bible.
What we call churches today are merely the buildings in which we assemble.
WE ARE THE CHURCH. Believers are the Church, not some building or teachings.
We take great pride in our divisions nowadays.
Long ago and within our selves now, we broke up and each division now really and truly has its own piece of the Truth, but we are also guessing about the rest with equal certainty.
In somehow coming back together again as one Church, under the One Jesus, our mistakes and errors in understanding could be corrected, but were not there yet.
Arrogant certainty blinds us Truth, and thus to our own sins, and even worse, to how we reject God and diss His Holy Spirit nowadays, and all while claiming to be washed clean by the Blood of Jesus.
I hope He knows us or it wont end well.
And even if He does know us, blasphemy against His Holy Spirit isnt forgiven or forgotten. What sort of purgatory will moves like that earn for us?
Our guilt is worse when we supposedly know better and do it anyway, right?
You may be in to something that Christianity post Martin Luther drifted a little off course, but the alternative is a Catholic church run by gay priest perverting the faith wholesale. The protestant church has a refresh button to flush out heresy. It has proven effective
Your ignorance not withstanding, there are several references to the notion of the Rapture removal of the Body of Christ way earlier than the sixteenth century. But I doubt you would even want to know that since it would shatter your false narrative.
Oh, boy, another John Darby and a looney girl belief. Good freaking grief, give it up. Darby never met the danged girl. You people are the looney ones. Just give it up.
