All of the little hints and clues we are getting day after day point steadfastly to the fact that Pope Francis is just not a good man. It also seems like he never was.
**and suspected the Congregation for Bishops thought the U.S. bishops might be moving too quickly. **
Here the U. S. Bishops want to do something right, and others are preventing them from moving forward.
Yep.
Who cares if they’re current. Its the fact that it happened and was covered up.
Dioceses are already filing bankruptcy. After the DOJ gets done how much more $$$ will have to be paid out.
Many of us have stopped giving. We fund the missions directly
You’re making it all about money, and so you’re missing the point... my point is that the problem TODAY is not the American bishops collectively. The problem TODAY is that there are a number of bishops throughout the world who are obstinately refusing to address the problem of abuse of children by clergy, and it seems one of them is the Pope.
If it’s really going to be about protecting children (and preventing future abuse needs to be the primary goal), then we need to be realistic about where the problems are TODAY and where the problems have been addressed TODAY. The policies enacted in the US in 2002 most certainly DID HELP. For as bad as things are for the Catholic Church in the USA, we’re actually doing better than just about anywhere else.
The remaining problems in the US mostly come from the inability to sufficiently address abusive/negligent bishops. ONLY the Pope can judge/remove bishops (whether personally or by giving the mandate to someone else). If the DOJ wants to fix that, they need to make this an international incident.
I agree with everything you said.
I’d also say it hurts the flock. The flock will scatter, never to return.
Jorge the humble is flexing his muscles.
