But that chain of authority is often not so clear in the church world, especially amongst non-denominational evangelicals. If a man or woman steps up behind a pulpit and speaks to us authoritatively on matters of theology, why do we automatically accept this authority? Is it because we like what we hear? Or do we validate the authority because the pastors interpretation of the Bible jives with our own understanding? But who are we to even make that judgement? Why is our interpretation of the Bible any better than the person sitting next to us on the pew? And if we disagree with an aspect of the pastors views, do we have a right to question him? Or do we have to accept what he says because we have already consented to his authority?

No...however, we don't see that list of requirements to be a follower of Christ in the New Testament.
It's illustrative of why Christianity notes Roman Catholicism is a works based religion.
The Church is people believing in the Gospel presented by the Word that is in the letter Father gave to mankind. “The Church” is not an organization, a building or a group of students like alumni of the University. It IS the people that follow the Master, Yeshua Messiah, Jesus the Christ. There is NO ONE between The Father and mankind but Christ, only 1 mediator, as per the words written in Red.
Hey! That's mine, too! ;o)
That's not much of a stretch for most people.
There are no NT requirements for a fast. It is supposed to be Spirit lead...not man decreed.
So much of Roman Catholicism is a mirror of the OT...sadly not the New.
Sorry to hear you’re in the hospital. I’ll be praying for you.
If it is Christ Who died on the cross for our sins and per Colossians 2:13-14 notes He has forgiven us all of our transgressions....what work can you possibly do that equals that?
13When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Col 2:13-14 NASB
I do appreciate your forthcoming and answering questions.
I mentioned Melchizedek, because his Biblical appearance/mention (in several places) is significant precisely because of his non-Aaronic descent.
Because Christian pastors are also (generally) not of the line of Aaron, there is sometimes the connection drawn...and not only in the Latter Day Saints movement.
"More noble-minded" sure sounds like a compliment to me. ;o)
I wasn’t trying to go into Paul’s entire history previous to the Antioch launch. Just pointing out God’s witness to others besides the ones to be ordained. Paul didn’t know exactly what God had in mind when he arrived in Damascus, but Ananias did, before Paul showed up.
Paul and Barnabas were already ordained ministers of the Lord. Antioch was where they were ordained for a new mission field.
But nowadays (well,... nothing new under the sun) people that were never called attain a position, and ordain just about anybody.
You're welcome, I am not a professional apologist just your average sinner trying to work out my salvation with fear and trembling but I do know that He loves each of us and want's us to be with him forever. Eye has not seen nor ear heard what He has waiting for us. To quote Tom Petty "The waiting is the hardest part" We may not have a meeting of the minds but here is hoping for a meeting of the hearts.
Sorry but its like a fire locked up in my bones
Without salvation from Christ alone, you will have a never-ending Fire in your bones. Plan now bro.
Well, lets start with the meaning of the word 'is'. This 'is' my Body. Where in Scripture does the word 'is' means represents?
Hey! That’s mine, too! ;o)
Shhh ... I knew.
This ‘is’ my Body. Where in Scripture does the word ‘is’ means represents?
Yeah!
Or I am the door.
Where in Scripture does the word ‘am’ means symbolic?
If you are content with your belief, that is what counts.
Context gives us the answer.
Matthew 26:26-29 | Mark 14:22-24 | Luke 22:14-20 | 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 |
26While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body. 27And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you; 28for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. 29But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Fathers kingdom. |
22While they were eating, He took some bread, and after a blessing He broke it, and gave it to them, and said, Take it; this is My body. 23And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24And He said to them, This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. 25Truly I say to you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.. |
14When the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. 15And He said to them, I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God. 17And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, Take this and share it among yourselves; 18for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes. 19And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me. 20And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. |
23For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me. 25In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. 26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lords death until He comes. |
Key Phrases/words:
Poured out: In the OT the blood sacrifice was never consumed; it was always poured out. We further have the drink offering which was poured out before God as a sacrifice (Ex 29:40, Numbers 15:4-5).
29.11 ἀνάμνησις, εως f: (derivative of ἀναμιμνῄσκω to cause to remember, 29.10) the means for causing someone to remembermeans of remembering, reminder. ἀλλ ἐν αὐταῖς ἀνάμνησις ἁμαρτιῶν κατ ἐνιαυτόν but in those (sacrifices) there is a yearly reminder of sins or

Get serious. Am is not is. Is like is not is
When God said, " and behold, a voice from heaven said, This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Mat 3:17, it is the same is. The same in Greek. Is means is, except to those who have non-scriptural beliefs.
Why does the is in Mat3:17 not mean the same as the is in Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. Mat 26:26 And use Scripture to support your belief.
So if all the literate ones had access to a bible, they could read it and interpret it as they choose enough to be saved through faith in Jesus Christ.
