"Catholics Will Have to Decide Whether They Guard the Faith Over Papolatry"
Gloria TV ^ | July 17, 2017 | Gloria TV

Posted on 07/17/2017 8:08:32 AM PDT by ebb tide

“Francis is more interested in leftwing politics than in Catholic theology”, George Neumayr, contributing editor of The American Spectator, states talking to Tom Woods on July 14th on tomwoods.com. Woods describes Francis as a result of John Paul II who - as he puts it - appointed "absolutely terrible people" as bishops: "Catholics have suffered under Bergoglios for decades now”.

Neumayr agrees that a lot of the liberal bishops were appointed by John Paul II and Benedict XVI. He sees Francis as the “culmination of a century” of liberalism and modernism in the Church.

For him it is "highly unlikely" that Francis, who in his theology is “more a Protestant than a Catholic” will convert to Catholicism. Instead, the realistic scenario is that Francis will produce division and chaos, "Catholics will have to decide whether they guard the faith over papolatry.”

And: “The Cardinals have to declare that Francis is a bad pope who must be resisted.”

What is this? It’s like, among a certain crowd, all non-Catholic Christians are really the devil, and everything HAS to be THEIR fault, no matter how much they have to twist in order to make it that way.

NOW you're getting it.

But more specifically, it's all really LUTHER'S fault.

He's just about the Devil incarnate, unless, of course, he's supporting the perpetual virginity of Mary.

Then he's speaking ex cathedra....

Well, praise GOD that reconciliation to CHRIST is much easier and quicker.

We don't need to reconciled to a religion and God never said it took years to do so. That's not the way Jesus taught or treated others.

Romans 5:10-11 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

1 Corinthians 5:17-21 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Colossians 1:9-23 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

And God made it simple. Far simpler than the Catholic church makes it.

The Catholic church teaches that to receive forgiveness, all kinds of actions need to be done in the form of penance, which is supposed to prove how sorry you are for your sin, as if God doesn't already know your heart.

God makes it this simple.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

“Ah, another 4P, I see (poor, pathetic, persecuted papist).”

I forgive you for the disparagement.

“Maybe OPEN Religion Forum threads are not for you?”

You are 100% correct as I am against the condemnation of any believer in Jesus Christ, be they Protestant or Catholic. These open “religion” threads are nothing more than a forum for modern day Pharisees to ridicule & condemn other believers in Jesus Christ.

Definitely not where I want to be caught when Christ comes again.

Moooove along now; as I'll post what is REALLY in the Book!

Acts 15    Version 1.54

The Council at Fresno...
1 Certain Catholics came from all across the world to FreeRepublic and were trying to convince the believers: "Unless you are Catechized, according to the custom taught by Rome, you cannot be saved." 2 This brought Elsie and Metmom ETAL into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Elsie and Metmom were appointed, along with some other believers, to lurk on FR to see the  Catholics and NON about this question. 3 The Holy Spirit sent them on their way, and as they traveled through the Religion Forum, they told how the NON-Catholics had been converted. This news made all the Protestants very glad. 4 When they came to FR, they were scorned by members of the ONE TRUE church, to whom they reported everything God had done through them.

5 Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Catholics stood up and said, "The Protestants must be baptisted correctly and required to keep the laws of Rome!"

6 The posters met to consider this question. 7 After much discussion, Metmom got up and addressed them: "Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Protestants might hear from our fingers the message of the gospel and believe. 8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Protestants a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are."  (<---- just for E-S types later...)

12 The whole of FR became silent (Yeah; THAT's gonna happen!) as they listened to Elsie and Metmom telling about the signs and wonders God had done among the Protestants. 13 When they finished, Boatbums spoke up. "Brothers," she said, "listen to me. 14 MGinTN has described to us how God first intervened to choose a people for his name from the Gentiles. 15 The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written:

16 "'After this I will return
   and rebuild Rome's fallen tent.
Its ruins I will rebuild,
   and I will restore it,
17 that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord,
even all the Protestants who bear my name,
says the Lord, who does these things'
18 things known from long ago.

19 "It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Protestants who are turning to God. 20 Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from vision and apparations, from Brown Scapulas, from the endless repetitions of the ROSARY and from so-called blood. 21 For the laws of Rome has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the sanctuaries on every Sunday."

The Council's Letter to Gentile Believers
22 Then the posters and lurkers, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Fresno with Mark17 and Tennessee Nana. They chose Daniel121 (called Wise) and eagleone, men who were leaders among the believers. 23 With them they sent the following letter:

The apostles and elders, your brothers,

To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:

   Greetings.

24 We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25 So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

   Farewell.

30 So the men were sent off and continued to post on FR, where they gathered the people together and delivered the GOSPEL. 31 The people (most all  except Salvation and Vlademir998) read it and were glad for its encouraging message.

Shoo fly. No one is interested in playing your defective uncharitable game.

Rather, this is a poor attempt at avoidance of what challenges your "game," blatantly accusing another of making a false statement, and then when it is refuted by documentation then you play the liberal victim card, accusing me of being uncharitable, as well as defective, that latter of which is another blatant accusation by mere assertion. How loving of you.

Whether you want to admit it or not, doctrine - not simply protecting your Mary - is important, and making the Mary of Scripture into an almost almighty demigoddess so that "there is no grace which Mary cannot dispose of as her own, "the Holy Spirit acts only by the Most Blessed Virgin, his Spouse." whose [Mary] merits we are saved by, who "had to suffer, as He did, all the consequences of sin," etc., is contrary to Scripture and sound doctrine. Call it hateful if you must in order to justify your censor of reproof, but it is God whom we must answer to, who has warned us not to think of mortals above that which is written. (1Co. 4:6)

So what sins are not deadly and how do you know?

Didn't the high-falutin' words upthread convince you that you CANNOT know for sure??

Come back to the arms of your Mother and again toe the line.

Rome has EVERYTHING you need for salvation.

If JESUS' blood is not good enough in certain areas (MORMONs take note) then we have the Untier of Knots and her prayers that will save you maybe...

However, do you think that Christ died on the cross and shed His blood for us

that we could just go and sin without consequences, or with all the consequences falling on Him?

1 John 2:1 NIV

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin.
But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

You are 100% correct as I am against the condemnation of any believer in Jesus Christ, be they Protestant or Catholic.

Which is simply another example of your own duplicity. You profess to be against the condemnation of any believer in Jesus Christ while condemning believers in Jesus Christ as modern day Pharisees who do as you did , accusing another of posting falsehood, though it was not , then censoring those who reprove Catholic Mariolatry, and even telling them "if you don’t agree with Catholicism then stay away from Catholicism," while justifying your accusations of what you allege are blatant fallacies. And then, after all your double standard accusations and evasion, you liken me to a fly who plays an "defective uncharitable game."

It is thus clear that, like a liberal and typical Catholic defender. you give yourself the freedom to make accusations but censor those who expose them as false, and as a last resort, engage in ad hominem in lieu of an actual argument.

These open “religion” threads are nothing more than a forum for modern day Pharisees to ridicule & condemn other believers in Jesus Christ.

That is manifestly untrue.

There is a lot of debate, and good debate at that, and discussing of ideas, requests for prayer, devotional material posted, etc.

But I suppose one sees what they want to see.

Bus Christ did come to start a church, as an aid to men’s salvation.

Romans 10 (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.*

Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: “The person who does these things will live by them.”[a] But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’”[b] (that is, to bring Christ down* ) “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’”[c] (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[d] that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[e] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”[f]

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? * As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[g]

* Rome adds: in the CORRECT interpretation of these words.

* Rome explains: you know; like in the Mass...

* Rome adds: And how can they preach unless the Only True Church gives them a platform from which to do so??

Better get 2! Always have a back up Scapula.

Rosary for the rear view mirror.
Scapula just in case.
Some amulets or “victorious medals.”
A gallon of holy water.
A Mary grotto.
Some ashes for the head.

None of which appear in the NT...

But they may work and are great for virtue signaling.

Colossians 2:16-23 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

I’ll stick with the Fathers,

Go for it!

As regards the oft-quoted Mt. 16:18, note the following Early Church Fathers promise in the profession of faith of Vatican 1:

 • Basil of Seleucia, Oratio 25:

'You are Christ, Son of the living God.'...Now Christ called this confession a rock, and he named the one who confessed it 'Peter,' perceiving the appellation which was suitable to the author of this confession. For this is the solemn rock of religion, this the basis of salvation, this the wall of faith and the foundation of truth: 'For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Christ Jesus.' To whom be glory and power forever. — Oratio XXV.4, M.P.G., Vol. 85, Col. 296-297.

Bede, Matthaei Evangelium Expositio, 3:

You are Peter and on this rock from which you have taken your name, that is, on myself, I will build my Church, upon that perfection of faith which you confessed I will build my Church by whose society of confession should anyone deviate although in himself he seems to do great things he does not belong to the building of my Church...Metaphorically it is said to him on this rock, that is, the Saviour which you confessed, the Church is to be built, who granted participation to the faithful confessor of his name. — 80Homily 23, M.P.L., Vol. 94, Col. 260. Cited by Karlfried Froehlich, Formen, Footnote #204, p. 156 [unable to verify by me].

Cassiodorus, Psalm 45.5:

'It will not be moved' is said about the Church to which alone that promise has been given: 'You are Peter and upon this rock I shall build my Church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.' For the Church cannot be moved because it is known to have been founded on that most solid rock, namely, Christ the Lord. — Expositions in the Psalms, Volume 1; Volume 51, Psalm 45.5, p. 455

Chrysostom (John) [who affirmed Peter was a rock, but here not the rock in Mt. 16:18]:

Therefore He added this, 'And I say unto thee, Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church; that is, on the faith of his confession. — Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Saint Matthew, Homily LIIl; Philip Schaff, Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers (http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff/npnf110.iii.LII.html)

Cyril of Alexandria:

When [Peter] wisely and blamelessly confessed his faith to Jesus saying, 'You are Christ, Son of the living God,' Jesus said to divine Peter: 'You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church.' Now by the word 'rock', Jesus indicated, I think, the immoveable faith of the disciple.”. — Cyril Commentary on Isaiah 4.2.

Origen, Commentary on the Gospel of Matthew (Book XII):

“For a rock is every disciple of Christ of whom those drank who drank of the spiritual rock which followed them, 1 Corinthians 10:4 and upon every such rock is built every word of the church, and the polity in accordance with it; for in each of the perfect, who have the combination of words and deeds and thoughts which fill up the blessedness, is the church built by God.'

“For all bear the surname ‘rock’ who are the imitators of Christ, that is, of the spiritual rock which followed those who are being saved, that they may drink from it the spiritual draught. But these bear the surname of rock just as Christ does. But also as members of Christ deriving their surname from Him they are called Christians, and from the rock, Peters.” — Commentary on the Gospel of Matthew (Book XII), sect. 10,11 ( http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/101612.htm)

Hilary of Potier, On the Trinity (Book II):

Thus our one immovable foundation, our one blissful rock of faith, is the confession from Peter's mouth, Thou art the Son of the living God. On it we can base an answer to every objection with which perverted ingenuity or embittered treachery may assail the truth."-- (Hilary of Potier, On the Trinity (Book II), para 23; Philip Schaff, editor, The Nicene & Post Nicene Fathers Series 2, Vol 9.
