Woods describes Francis as a result of John Paul II who - as he puts it - appointed "absolutely terrible people" as bishops: "Catholics have suffered under Bergoglios for decades now”.
Neumayr agrees that a lot of the liberal bishops were appointed by John Paul II and Benedict XVI. He sees Francis as the “culmination of a century” of liberalism and modernism in the Church.
For him it is "highly unlikely" that Francis, who in his theology is “more a Protestant than a Catholic” will convert to Catholicism. Instead, the realistic scenario is that Francis will produce division and chaos, "Catholics will have to decide whether they guard the faith over papolatry.”
And: “The Cardinals have to declare that Francis is a bad pope who must be resisted.”
Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist. Presbyterian - they’re all bastardized.
I tried them all - was raised a Catholic - and all are sorely lacking for the serious seeker of religion.
If you want serious Christian religion, try Eastern Orthodox.

Not the story they tell at all.
They do observe he is a fraud, stole money, is a tax cheat, kidnapper, and fake rabbi.
They knew him over years and knew his wife (the one he divorced).
They knew him for 7 or more years when he was one of their leaders.
Rood has misrepresented himself - as he always has - to you. Sounds like you buy it hook line and sinker.

It's a problem with Free Republic. It's been very sporadic lately.
I've come to realize a few things about this subject you seem so enamored of from a man who has quite a history of cultic and false teachings. First, you and your fellows are like the ones Peter said who took Paul's epistles (which Peter called Scripture) and then twisted them because they were unlearned and unstable like they do the other Scriptures.
Second, if obedience to the law of the Lord, which He writes upon our hearts as we come to Him in faith (of which His GRACE has gifted salvation to all who believe - Jew or Gentile), then I can say I already DO live in obedience to the commandments of Jesus through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. So, I should be good to go, right? But something tells me there is an exception you will make next. I suspect that it isn't good enough to live obedient lives in love for God and others, is it?
What will come next is all the OTHER things our enduring-until-the-end faith must do, right? Things like keeping the feast days, keeping Kosher(?), keeping a Saturday Sabbath instead of worship on Sunday, changing beliefs about the Deity of Jesus (maybe even stop using the name "Jesus"?), dropping certain tenets of the Christian faith even those that have been held universally for thousands of years, maybe even quit using the words "Christ", "Christian", "church" and I'm sure any other number of things Michael John Rood teaches that are necessary parts of real saving "faith". How about it, did I get all that correct? Did I leave anything out?
I am not sure, but if this doesn't describe the great falling away, I don't know what would.

Rood's little flock is probably a drop in the bucket of those who will be part of the great falling away. Those who follow the accursed gospel he preaches - though he is far from the only one out there - will be sadly surprised to find themselves left behind and facing an eternity separated from God if they fail to accept the grace of God that brings salvation before it's too late.
I know nothing about Rood... or his flock... whether or not he and his group are among those that fall for the deception, which is the first tribulation, is totally another matter. Three Gospels record Christ saying that the ‘sign’ of His return is mass deception... and Christ did not utter one word about anyone fleeing this tribulation.. except that the days of Daniel would be shortened for the elects sake.
