Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Vestavia Hills is trying to establish its own police force.
The move requires approval from state lawmakers. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Arnold Mooney (R-Shelby County) cleared its first major hurdle Wednesday. The House Public Safety Committee gave its OK.

The worst part was that when they knew the drug thing was going on, they did not report it to law enforcement but decided to investigate it themselves. The police later became involved.
That could get really sticky, really bad, if something like that was done in a child abuse situation.
No, the story specified that they’d take arrestees to someone else’s jail.
At one time I lived in the home of the original pastor, Frank Barker. One of the finest, most sincere and humble men I have ever known.
I went to seminary with the current pastor, Harry Reeder. Also a fine man.
That said, I have NO idea what is prompting this.
Ping to the state list.
I have very warm feelings toward Briarwood. For a time, they were financial supporters of ours. They have a long history of evangelism, both in their neighborhood, and extending even to the jungles of Papua, Indonesia.
As big as Briarwood is, I could easily see them being am attractive target that would require a very rapid response, so this does make sense.
Then again, the PCA is one of the best-armed denominations around. I know of at least 5 in my own congregation that carry on a regular basis, and I believe that number is light. :)
If one is disgusted by some liberal protestant churches including Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) one only has to look at the Briarwood Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) and its brethren to see a conservative contrast.
In fact the assembly to spin off the conservative PCA church was held at Briarwood Church in 1973.
It used to be about as good as there was when Frank Barker was there. Don Patterson then Jim Baird at FPC Jackson, James Montgomery Boice at 10th in Philly (although they did have Deaconesses), Kennedy at Coral Ridge; Randy Pope in Atlanta. Folks who were not only pastors and preachers, but who had a global impact in that generation.
Yes, this is true.
Disclaimer: I am a member of a PCA church and have been sent out by Mission To the World, which is the world evangelism branch of the PCA.
Another dead bishop on the landing.......
I’ll call the police.
Shouldn’t you call the church?
Call the church police!
THE CHURCH POLICE!
The situation from what I understand who not one kid getting caught with a joint, it was a well organized pipeline of horse and other drugs into the school by a gang from the inner city.
So the school though was trying to keep it on the downlow and not involve police, but to their surprise, police already knew because they were investigating it from the other end.
Thanks for the info.
LOL!
I’m not going to do a ping, but will add the keyword YBPDLN. If something odd comes of this I’ll do a full blown ping.
Thank you.

Gee, what’s next? Sharia courts?
Not to be snarky, but there is more than one Birmingham in the USA.
The Religion Forum doesnt let you put states in the Topics....

Posters frequently put the state’s abbreviation in parentheses at the end of the headline.

"No comment". (Unless I'm someplace it's against the law, I'm carrying.)
