My wife was not feeling at all well this morning as she accompanied me at a podiatrist's appointment at the V.A. When we got home her condition worsened. She could barely see, had a pounding headache and was very dizzy. So we drove to the emergency room of a close-by hospital, where they did numerous tests. She is in the midst of an ongoing stroke.
Please pray for her.
Prayers up, good that you got her there early.
I’m so pleased Barbara is back home. That has got to be a big relief for both of you. Thoughts and prayers are continuing for a swift, full recovery.
Thanks for the update 2nd. Prayers continue.
For non-sugar sweeteners I use Stevia via the brand Sweetleaf. It comes in droplet form or powder packets. Other brands have fillers and other ingredients which are not really good.
I also use Xylitol from Birch Tree bark via the brand Xyla. It is a white sugar crystal like sugar except that it is a pentamer which has the beneficial effect of causing mouth bacteria to be killed off (they gag on it) leaving the mouth and breath fresh.
Both products are available on Amazon or in natural food markets.
As for blood pressure, I can say for sure if there’s an anxiety attack, often a person will feel they cannot breathe and so they start to breathe rapidly. But this only exacerbates the problem as it can lead to hyperventilation, none of which is good for blood pressure stability. People having anxiety and breathing problems need to train themselves to do the opposite which is to try to slow their breathing. This will cause the anxiety to dissipate.
Keep her feeling relaxed of course. Tell her to talk herself to sleep by training herself to understand that without restful sleep, there will be stress and exhaustion. Understanding restful sleep is very important. It’s a quality over quantity issue. A person can get 20 hours of sleep and not ever have truly rested. Here’s how it works:
When the body gets into restful sleep, also known as delta sleep or deep sleep, it is the most relaxed state the body can be in. The body doesn’t stay there for long, only about 30 to 40 minutes but it may take 3 to 4 hours to get to it and it may take about 2 to 3 hours to come out of. If a person never reaches this deep state of sleep, then all the sleep in the world will not yield benefits. Deep sleep is the quality of sleep that has the benefits. What are these benefits and how do they come about?
When the body reaches delta sleep, the pituitary gland starts to act to produce growth hormones. The pituitary gland will not produce these special hormones when the body is not in delta sleep. The amount of growth hormone produced is very small but it circulates in the body and causes stem cells to differentiate to replace older and dead cells in the body. This is why the skin feels tighter when a person awakens after having restful sleep. It also causes new immune system cells and also muscle cells. In effect, deep sleep rejuvenates us.
Stressful sleep has its purpose. When we are full of stress, it is the result of the adrenal gland - adrenal gland - pituitary gland tri-axis stress response. This response system helps us to survive under harsh circumstances especially where the body senses a predatory situation is near. The stress response acts to force the blood into our muscles by contracting the blood passages in other areas. The increased blood flow to our muscles helps us to be quick and alert. But continuing in this state over a long period can run us down and exhaust us because we are not getting restful sleep.
If you and your wife are worried about her health conditions, try learning how to train yourselves to talk each other into restful sleep. Prayer works astonishingly well. The goal is to get so relaxed that the restful sleep rejuvenates the body and makes it feel and work so much better, Knowing Christ and praying to Him is such a blessing when it comes to this. Praying to Christ in these circumstances can literally save lives. It really works.
Try gently rubbing over her closed eyes and her forehead for about 10 minutes as she starts her sleep. Pray softly and make sure she understands all the above. She should have a smile as she closes her eyes because she knows that she is going to feel a lot better the next day. She should understand that all the demons of life can be told to get out of her sleep world because she and she alone owns her sleep. Nothing should disturb her and she needs to talk to herself internally telling herself that there is absolutely nothing to be gained by having problems of the world and of life prevent her from rejuvenating herself through restful sleep allowing her to rise up, live and fight again in the new day.
I believe it is also Ok, spiritually, in our stressful world to take natural sleep supplements. One of these is Natural Factors - Stress-Relax Tranquil Sleep, also available on Amazon here:
I believe that Christ allows us to use knowledge and technology to our benefit and good sleep ingredients would be one of those.
Needless to say, she will need to adjust her lifestyle and diet. Both of you may need to take an inventory of the stressors in your life and eliminate as many as possible. It may mean downsizing or moving to more peaceful surroundings. Whatever it may be, do it out of love for her health.
Walk with her, pray with her, laugh with her and don’t let anything disturb her. You should see her return to a more vigorous form from the one you wtnessed in the hospital.
Prayers!

I wasn’t aware your wife had a stroke.
I had one 4 1/2 years ago-—BP related,not sugar.
It really blindsided me—I NEVER expected it.
Some outpatient therapy,(right hand and slurred speech),and so far,so good.
.
Praise the Lord!
Glory to God. Great News!
Prayers for your wife!
So happy and will continue to pray.
Continued prayers for your wife’s healing and for you.
