Question: How will God judge non-Catholics at the time of their death? — William Bandle, Manchester, Missouri
Answer: Scripture says, “God does not see as a mortal ... The Lord looks into the heart” (1 Sam 16:7). Thus, God, who knows our hearts, will judge us based on what is there. Not all have had the same opportunity to come to know the Lord, his Church and the help of the sacraments. God is just; he knows this and will judge accordingly.
Jesus says, “That servant who knew his master’s will but did not make preparations or act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating, shall be beaten only lightly” (Lk 12:47-48).
In terms of non-Catholics who lacked some knowledge or sacraments of the Church, God will look into their hearts and judge them based on what they reasonably could have known and their actions based on that.
Therefore, to say that God looks into the heart does not mean that he merely looks to a person’s feelings or disposition. Rather, as Scripture says, we will be judged by our deeds (see Rom 2:6-11). Did our actions correspond to what we knew was expected of us or not?
|
Thus, the degree of a person’s knowledge of God’s will and his obedience to that knowledge in deeds will be key on the Day of Judgment. This does not mean all non-Catholics and other nonbelievers simply get a pass. Their ignorance of full Catholic teaching must be what is called “invincible ignorance,” meaning a lack of knowledge that they could not reasonably overcome. Thus, if one is lazy or makes excuses when seeking the truth, God will take it into account.
Since the Lord alone sees into our heart, he alone will be our just judge.
Pure desperation. The Scriptural Lord's return in Scripture is yet to come, (1Cor. 4:5; 2Tim. 4:1,8; Rev.11:18; Mt. 25:31-46; 1Pt. 1:7; 5:4) and is not at death.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Indeed, and shall forever be, (1Thes. 4:17) and the Lord's return and subsequent judgment seat of Christ is when these souls come with Him, with the actual sentencing according to their degree of guilt following. (Jude 1:14-15; cf. Mal. 3:18; Mt 16:27; 19:28; Mt 24:30,31; 25:31; Lk. 22:20; 2Th 1:7,8; Re 1:7; 5:10; 19:6-20; 20:4)
Having been shown that this disallows purgatory, you are now trying to make the sentencing of believers to be the same time as the Lord. Give it up! This longsuffering work of showing you your absence of any real support has seen its end.
You mean 5, while it can be argued that they did not ultimately fail. However, the utter absence of any mention of the sppsd supreme head of the churches Rome has them looking to, with no commendation or condemnation relative to submitting to him, as well as the Eucharist not being recommended either as a remedy, is supremely conspicuous.
Fr. Ray can believe this with all he's got and probably convince plenty of his fellow religionists of the same but it won't make it the truth. First off, neither the Roman Catholic church, nor ANY church for that matter, has real "Apostolic orders" or "Apostolic succession". Even the actual Apostles understood the rules for someone to BE an Apostle and once the original twelve died, Jesus didn't make any more. The closest any church can get is to continue to teach the truth as the Apostles handed down and what they taught is preserved in Scripture.
Secondly, every Christian church/fellowship/assembly can have the observance of the Lord's Supper be seen as "Eucharist" since that word basically means "thanksgiving". When we observe what Jesus said so that we receive through faith the bread and wine as symbols of His body and blood which was broken and shed for our sins, we are doing so in the spirit of thanksgiving and offering a "sacrifice of praise" for His unspeakable gift. Catholicism, by making this observance a necessary unbloody sacrifice for the propitiation of sins committed since the last time it was received, perverts the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ and teaches an accursed gospel that contradicts Holy Scripture. For by one offering Jesus has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. (see Hebrews 10)
Lastly, we are literally united with Jesus Christ because He said, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." (Matt. 18:20) Not only that, but ALL believers are indwelt with the Holy Spirit.
You can't get anymore literal than that! Christ is always with us and in us and He said He would never leave us or forsake us. He IS our hope of glory.
Who knows bro. I watched a VCR movie (so, it was a while ago) called the Godmakers. It was all about the Mormon church. That was the first time I ever heard about the magic underwear.
I wonder if the Mormons are as embarrassed by some of this stuff, as I was embarrassed by things like holy water?
The screen name is at least accurate. :^)
So he DOES know the rules! Hmmmm....
I agree BB, but lots of cult members say they believe, when, in actuality, they don't. They engage in cult speak. The cult's definition of "believe" and our definition, differ greatly. 😇🇵🇭
An open mind is the portal to wisdom!
Pay attention, for a moment, if you’re capable.
I write critiques of serious history, under a ‘nom de plume’; for ranking publications.
This site appeared to be an open forum, so I ventured. Reality is that’s it’s simply a coven for room temperature IQ’s; whose common denominator is hostility to reflection and humor, incapable of any truly serious thought.
The only one ‘caught up’ in your pre-adolescent scribbling is the image you see in the mirror.
HMMMmmm...
But they ARE mentioned in the things a Mormon MUST do to be TOTALLY worthy!

It DOES tend to make one wonder.
I've three of them that I ping who will will occasionally appear on FR.
Perhaps one or more of them can be asked to explain what the garment means to them; whether they wear it, and whether they have a valid, up-to-date TR card.

OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 71
Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet and Sidney Rigdon, at Hiram, Ohio, December 1, 1831. HC 1: 238239. The Prophet had continued to translate the Bible with Sidney Rigdon as his scribe until this revelation was received, at which time it was temporarily laid aside so as to enable them to fulfill the instruction given herein. The brethren were to go forth to preach in order to allay the unfriendly feelings that had developed against the Church as a result of the publication of some newspaper articles by Ezra Booth, who had apostatized.
14, Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon are sent forth to proclaim the gospel; 511, Enemies of the saints shall be confounded.
1 Behold, thus saith the Lord unto you my servants Joseph Smith, Jun., and Sidney Rigdon, that the time has verily come that it is necessary and expedient in me that you should open your mouths in proclaiming my gospel, the things of the kingdom, expounding the mysteries thereof out of the scriptures, according to that portion of Spirit and power which shall be given unto you, even as I will.
2 Verily I say unto you, proclaim unto the world in the regions round about, and in the church also, for the space of a season, even until it shall be made known unto you.
3 Verily this is a mission for a season, which I give unto you.
4 Wherefore, labor ye in my vineyard. Call upon the inhabitants of the earth, and bear record, and prepare the way for the commandments and revelations which are to come.
5 Now, behold this is wisdom; whoso readeth, let him understand and receive also;
6 For unto him that receiveth it shall be given more abundantly, even power.
7 Wherefore, confound your enemies; call upon them to meet you both in public and in private; and inasmuch as ye are faithful their shame shall be made manifest.
8 Wherefore, let them bring forth their strong reasons against the Lord.
9 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto youthere is no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper;
10 And if any man lift his voice against you he shall be confounded in mine own due time.
11 Wherefore, keep my commandments; they are true and faithful. Even so. Amen.

How do Catholics manage to be convinced that these verses mean something OTHER than what they plainly say???
indeed!
Now is THIS any way to engender love from our FR Catholics?
Calling them such judgmental names??
