Question: How will God judge non-Catholics at the time of their death? — William Bandle, Manchester, Missouri
Answer: Scripture says, “God does not see as a mortal ... The Lord looks into the heart” (1 Sam 16:7). Thus, God, who knows our hearts, will judge us based on what is there. Not all have had the same opportunity to come to know the Lord, his Church and the help of the sacraments. God is just; he knows this and will judge accordingly.
Jesus says, “That servant who knew his master’s will but did not make preparations or act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating, shall be beaten only lightly” (Lk 12:47-48).
In terms of non-Catholics who lacked some knowledge or sacraments of the Church, God will look into their hearts and judge them based on what they reasonably could have known and their actions based on that.
Therefore, to say that God looks into the heart does not mean that he merely looks to a person’s feelings or disposition. Rather, as Scripture says, we will be judged by our deeds (see Rom 2:6-11). Did our actions correspond to what we knew was expected of us or not?

Thus, the degree of a person’s knowledge of God’s will and his obedience to that knowledge in deeds will be key on the Day of Judgment. This does not mean all non-Catholics and other nonbelievers simply get a pass. Their ignorance of full Catholic teaching must be what is called “invincible ignorance,” meaning a lack of knowledge that they could not reasonably overcome. Thus, if one is lazy or makes excuses when seeking the truth, God will take it into account.
Since the Lord alone sees into our heart, he alone will be our just judge.
COUNCIL OF TOULOUSE - 1229 A.D Canon 14. We prohibit also that the laity should be permitted to have the books of the Old or New Testament; unless anyone from motive of devotion should wish to have the Psalter or the Breviary for divine offices or the hours of the blessed Virgin; but we most strictly forbid their having any translation of these books.

The Council of Tarragona of 1234, in its second canon:
No one may possess the books of the Old and New Testaments in the Romance language, and if anyone possesses them he must turn them over to the local bishop within eight days after promulgation of this decree, so that they may be burned lest, be he a cleric or a layman, he be suspected until he is cleared of all suspicion. (-D. Lortsch, Historie de la Bible en France, 1910, p.14.)
I report;
You decide.
No, it isn’t.
It’s so blatant as to be blinding.
The Roman Catholic church disagrees with you. Both can be wrong, but only one can be right.
If it is that simple, then point me to the Official Church teaching.
On some; but not all.
Oh?
What 'category' do YOU put all Prots into?
HMMMmmm...
This sounds a wee bit; shall we say; judgmental.
You are correct sir. It certainly was true in my case, and I am not even in your class. I was, however, a VERY rebellious dude. When I was told I couldn't read the Bible, what do you suppose was the first thing I did? I picked up a Bible and read it. Good for me, huh?
Perhaps someday you will realize your eternal destiny is riding on this difference. BUT you could sort it out, IF you would read God’s Word asking HIM to teach you. If the Catholic Church is as you claim, there will be no divergence between what God’s Word says and the Catholic Church teaches. There are lots of folks on these threads who are much more familiar with what GOD’s Word declares than you, so you might give them a listen.
Shouldn't all Christians be bound by "official" Church teachings before the Reformation -- or are you just a "Cafeteria Christian"?
Where was the personal attack?
There is no requirement in Scripture that the individual believer must follow some earthly organization that fancies itself to be Christ’s true church here on the earth.
The teachings of the Church, verified by both Scripture and Tradition are to be found in the teachings of the bishops, ratified by the Pope. Many, including priests and nuns and even popes do not preach or live those teachings. It is up to each of us to know and live those teachings. Any way all institutions have their scoundrels. God will judge us all.
The first founded Church ,the RCC, holds that in it is the fullness of Christs church.
Prove it. And define what you mean as *fullness of Christ’s church.
What is that? Catholicism as it’s practiced today?
It is Catholicism as taught. All fall short.
Then you can provide the Scripture to support the claims of the apparition claiming to be Mary regarding this:
Whosoever dies clothed in this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ disagrees with the Roman Catholic church.
History proves that an error. The Roman Church determined the Canon very early on and began interpreting them also. All non-Catholic Christian denominations and many non Roman Catholic religions split off from that early Church, which still survives.
You're probably more right than you know - care to answer the question posed?
The rcc determined their canon at Trent did it not?
