U.S. Olympian Katie Ledecky is the world record holder in the 400-, 800- and 1500-meter freestyles, and the American record holder in the 500-, 1000- and 1650-yard freestyles.
In the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she will compete in the 200-, 400-, and 800-meter freestyle. She has won Gold medals in the 2012 London Olympics and again in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
But before every race Ledecky, a faithful Catholic, offers a Hail Mary. I do say a prayer or two before any race. The Hail Mary is a beautiful prayer and I find that it calms me. she said.
In an interview with the Catholic Standard Ledecky said My Catholic faith is very important to me. It always has been and it always will be. It is part of who I am and I feel comfortable practicing my faith. It helps me put things in perspective.
Jesus will bless her for having the courage to stand up for His mother in such a public way.
Sola Scriptura is not in Scripture either.
1. It is.
2. Praying to Mary is not. In Scripture, the only prayers not addressed to God, are prayed by pagans.
Since you have an in with God,can you ask him directly for a pony for me!
All Prayers, end game are to God, Intercession is nothing more than trying to get other Saints, you know those in heaven whom God has already appointed, to Pray for us to God. Just as we lonely souls here pray for others how much more will those Souls whom are already in Heaven with Our Lords help? Remember they are Greater than John the Baptist in our Lords eyes.. Remember he is the Lord of the Living not of the Dead.
You might also want to seriously learn about the Rosary for it will benefit your Soul Greatly.
God Bless.
Very nice.
Not that I’m above a good Religion Forum knock down drag out.
But seriously....is this the time and place?
I think most Freepers are aware of the Catholic v. Protestant views on intercession at this point.
Many blessings to you.
Yeah dude. They’re tripping over themselves because a mooslum is now repping America. BLECCH
Yes, in fact I could... but so could every single other believer!
"Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews.
At the Wedding of Cana Mary’s last words were “Do whatever he tells you.”
She always directs things to her son. It’s not about Mary’ it’s about Jesus.
So when a priest in confession assigns three Hail Mary’s and five Our Fathers as penance what prayer is made for the former? I’d always assumed it meant praying the Rosary in full three times. Sorry for my ignorance but I didn’t have a Catholic education. I thought the reporter was misstating.
Many thanks and the same to you.
1. We are not at the Wedding in Cana.
2. There is no evidence in Scripture that there is any meaning other than what actually happened.
Everyone should have a pony.
The Hail Mary/Ave Maria:
“Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”
Some people use more modern language (e.g, “you” vs. “thee”).

This is the post to which I responded. It appeared to me that what you were referring to was a "Hail Mary" pass. That is a football reference, imho.
Thank you.
“There is no evidence in Scripture that there is any meaning other than what actually happened.”
You don’t have to believe it but why bother others?
I have read before that the Hail Mary prayer is especially calming to heart rate. The article I read tried to explain it in terms of its timing/metrics. I find all my sincere prayers are therapeutic.
