Cardinal Kurt Koch, who leads ecumenical relations for the Vatican, made the comments at an interfaith meeting in Cambridge

Christians have a mission to convert all Muslims, according to one of Pope Francis’s senior aides.

Cardinal Kurt Koch, who leads ecumenical relations for the Vatican, made the comments at an interfaith meeting held by Cambridge University’s Woolf Institute.

Cardinal Koch also said that Christians should not try and convert Jews and should view Judaism as a “mother”.

“We have a mission to convert all non-Christian religions’ people [except] Judaism,” he said, before reportedly adding that this extended to jihadis responsible for persecuting Christians in the Middle East.

The cardinal also urged Christians to view Judaism as a “mother” and said Christainity and Judaism shared a special relationship.

Don’t recall an exception in the Great Commission for the Jews.....

You're right. There wasn't.

Matthew 23:36-39

36] Amen I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation. [37] Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered together thy children, as the hen doth gather her chickens under her wings, and thou wouldest not? [38] Behold, your house shall be left to you, desolate. [39] For I say to you, you shall not see me henceforth till you say: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

If you believe in Jesus you dont need to believe in anyone or anything else.

Being closer to Jesus means nothing if you do not believe in him.

Ave you ever met a single person that said they owed their belief in Jesus to his mom?

Jesus did not say believe in my mom, or look to my mom to believe in Me.

Would you not agree if the main reason anyone believes in Jesus is his mother,

Then Jesus has done a very poor job making a case for people to believe in him?

If you believe in Jesus you dont need to believe in anyone or anything else.

So I can "believe in Jesus" without believing in the Father and the Holy Spirit? Jesus says he's greater than Moses, but since I don't have to believe in Moses, that really means he's greater than [redacted]? And what about all of this Paul and "salvation by grace apart from the law" stuff? That's all optional, I guess?

Your original comment doesn't comport with Scripture or even with common sense. "Belief in Jesus" fits with the whole framework of doctrine laid out in Scripture, or it's "belief" in a Jesus not taught in the Bible.

Well Jesus said he who believes in Him will have eternal life.

No man comes to the Father but by Him.

Not Mary or anyone else.

You are just hurt that there is zero evidence in Scripture that supports any kind of benefit to believing in Mary for anything related to anyone’s personal salvation.

I thought our job was to carry the Word to give the others a chance to make their own decision. Then we pray for them to see the Light and give themselves to Jesus.

Only one person has the power to convert any human being to Christianity.

That person is God the Father.

Even Jesus Christ Himself lacks that power because it would be a self-glorification.

This doctrine is elaborated in the doctrines of Common Grace and Efficacious Grace.

The Great Commission, Matt 28:16-20, does command believers to teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Human beings do not have the ability to create human spirits. If they did, then they would also be accountable for leaving some people without salvation.

“Only one person has the power to convert any human being to Christianity. That person is God the Father.”

Holy Spirit does it all the time.

“Even Jesus Christ Himself lacks that power because it would be a self-glorification.”

God is VERY MUCH INTO self-glorification. Everything He does is for His own glory. He uses Jesus for that all the time. http://www.desiringgod.org/articles/why-it-matters-that-god-does-everything-for-his-own-glory

When Saul was blinded on the road to Damascus it was the voice of Jesus that he heard and not the voice of the Father or the Holy Spirit. Jesus converted Saul to Christianity in that moment.

LOL, I bet you believe in the Bible. I bet you believe in faith sharing.

There is no such thing as an absolutely unmediated relationship with God. Not since Jesus was walking the earth.

Of course nobody is saying that. That’s just your straw man.

But since you choose to go there — You might as well say that about the Bible.
