Very good explanation; Protestantism, including its derivatives Evangelicalism and Restorationist movements do not have this authority; they are separated from the Apostles by a wide historical gulf despite trying to re-form Christianity after their own image, so to speak.

Yet when "mary" shows up in an apparition and makes promises or tells people to do things, catholics are free to accept or reject them.
The pope can't say if the first 11 chapters of Genesis is literal or symbolic yet he can issue dogmas on "mary" that conflict with the Word.
The catholic has no room to criticize.

Hahn replied, But what does the Bible itself teach about that? Lets look up 1 Timothy 3:15. Together they read the St. Pauls words, I am writing to you
so that you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in Gods household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. Not a building nor a denomination.

And the early church met in people’s houses where the Word would be read.

So maybe that pillar and foundation of the truth is the Holy Spirit indwelling believers irrespective of ANY external circumstance whether a prison cell, a home or an overly done building.

Catholicism is not a denomination because it's the Church Christ instituted. Other Christian sects arose from it.
The Catholic Church is a sect that arose from the Church that Christ established. The Reformation is an event that broke away from that sect.

The Catholic Church is a sect that arose from the Church that Christ established. Scripture says otherwise: Matthew 16:18

Apparently the Roman Catholic Church disagrees with you!!!!
424 Moved by the grace of the Holy Spirit and drawn by the Father, we believe in Jesus and confess: 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.'8 On the rock of this faith confessed by St. Peter, Christ built his Church.9 http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p1s2c2.htm

The Catholic Church is a sect that arose from the Church that Christ established. The Reformation is an event that broke away from that sect.
Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.
Acts, Catholic chapter nine, Protestant verse thirty one,
Greek from Stephanus Textus Receptus 1550,
English as authorized, but not authored, by King James,

That is totally wrong. Christ established the Catholic Church on the twelve Apostles, the first Bishops. There were no other religions until Luther did his thing. Everyone was CATHOLIC!
