A couple points worth making:
Gay Catholics who follow Church teachingjust like all baptized Catholicsalready have equal access to all the sacraments, with the notable exception of sacramental marriage between people of the same gender. But that won’t change. It can’t change. Not gonna happen.
Elsewhere in the article, the reporter notes that the pope “has shown no indication that he intends to lead the church toward changing its teaching that gay people are ‘called to chastity’ and marriage is only for a man and a woman.” What goes unmentioned is that in Catholic teaching all peoplegay and straight, married and singleare called to chastity. There are not different standards or expectations for gays from everyone else.
2337 Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person and thus the inner unity of man in his bodily and spiritual being. Sexuality, in which man’s belonging to the bodily and biological world is expressed, becomes personal and truly human when it is integrated into the relationship of one person to another, in the complete and lifelong mutual gift of a man and a woman.
The virtue of chastity therefore involves the integrity of the person and the integrality of the gift.
2348 All the baptized are called to chastity. The Christian has “put on Christ,” the model for all chastity. All Christ’s faithful are called to lead a chaste life in keeping with their particular states of life. At the moment of his Baptism, the Christian is pledged to lead his affective life in chastity.
2349 “People should cultivate [chastity] in the way that is suited to their state of life. Some profess virginity or consecrated celibacy which enables them to give themselves to God alone with an undivided heart in a remarkable manner. Others live in the way prescribed for all by the moral law, whether they are married or single.” Married people are called to live conjugal chastity; others practice chastity in continence:
- There are three forms of the virtue of chastity: the first is that of spouses, the second that of widows, and the third that of virgins. We do not praise any one of them to the exclusion of the others. . . . This is what makes for the richness of the discipline of the Church.
2350 Those who are engaged to marry are called to live chastity in continence. They should see in this time of testing a discovery of mutual respect, an apprenticeship in fidelity, and the hope of receiving one another from God. They should reserve for marriage the expressions of affection that belong to married love. They will help each other grow in chastity.
Ping!
Thank-you and God Bless.
There is no such thing as a gay Catholic.
Right now, we are officially banned from marriage and ordination, and often denied other sacraments, as well.” - Yes, and you should be.
We knew this was coming.
I suspect that we are close to the time that the Catholic Church withdraws from state certification of its clergy to perform marriages. We will end up with the European system whereby the couple appears before a civil official for a civil marriage service to satisfy state requirements and then get married in a Catholic Church to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony.
Just send them up to tbe satanic temple in Detroit, they’d be more than welcome.
With all due respect to RC Freepers, please consider the following.
The misguided Catholic Church is corrupting itself as a consequence of not obeying the Holy Bible with respect to the Holy Bibles condemnation of same-sex sexual relationships, giving gays the boot. 1 Corinthians 15:33 comes to mind.
If reduced collection basket revenues are really a problem then the Church possibly has spending problems.
Gay Homosexual Catholics Push for Church Weddings.
Gay Catholics who follow Church teaching . . .
If they followed Christ's teachings, they'd be seeking Divine help to stop their disgusting behavior.
Sounds like they are planning lawsuits demanding that they be allowed to be married etc. As parishioners we would be required to fund both the legal expenses and the payouts that would eventually be ordered.
Our parishes would be like the Christian bakeries who refuse to serve homosexual marriages. Our parishes would be sued over and over again until they are bankrupted.
So you desire to mock God even further?
They think the Church does what it does because of a rule that it made. Not it all. The Church’s practice conforms to the Natural Law, embedded in all creatures.
The truth is coming out now. The Catholic Church is and always has been the target of phony gay “marriage.” I predict here as I have before: at sometime soon a non-threatening gay couple probably two women will ask Cardinal Dolan of New York to marry them in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. They will do so with a cab waiting outside. When they get turned away as they will, they will run right down to 26 Federal Plaza to file a federal lawsuit demanding the Church either marry them or be stripped of her tax exemption. The Church will still say no and the war will be on.
When people in the pews hear the Federal government is bankrolling about 60 to 80% of Catholic Charities across the country they will demand the Catholic Church get out of the social services business. The money that they would be giving away would then go to paying taxes. If need be the next thing to go will be Catholic schools. Eventually many “fair weather” Catholics will leave but the ones who stay will be stronger in their faith.
Actually, no, you’ve never been banned from the sacraments, you just couldn’t (and can’t) have them on the terms you want.
Not that many "straight" people are interested in chastity as the Church defines it. We'd be in a very different situation if they were.
Well, that didn’t take long . . .
Choose who you will serve.
It will be diocese by diocese, bishop by bishop, priest by priest (in my case by pastor).
Many will fall I fear. Many will not. But the push to keep a hold of the material possessions will lead many to just go along.
Plenty of non-Catholic churches down the road will be happy to perform a ceremony for them.
“But that wont change. It cant change. Not gonna happen.”
“Elsewhere in the article, the reporter notes that the pope has shown no indication that he intends to lead the church toward changing its teaching that gay people are called to chastity and marriage is only for a man and a woman. “
Just a few years ago, the leftists’ god-king said the same thing, but he and Michael “evolved”.
Michael’s husband is scheduled to leave the White Mosque soon.
The “pope” is in office for life.
“Not gonna happen”?
