Well, Jim, I tried. I thought I would post a simple piece and see if the non-Catholics could just let it be. It appears that for any sane communication to happen, we will have to post something simple like this as a Catholic Caucus or Catholic/Orthodox Caucus.
It didn’t work. Please lock the thread.
So you admit to a honey trap. Nice.
If you want it to be an open open, be open. If you want to caucus, caucus. But don’t pull this, and claim you are being persecuted.
I’m Catholic. Thanks.
Seriously...what did you expect?
I forgot how much extra stuff your church added to salvation.
Don’t mean to be confrontational.
Catholics can’t leave Protestant threads be.
If you can come on a Protestant thread, why can’t Protestants come on your thread?
This was not a caucus thread you know there is disagreement on these subjects and if you did not want it you should have posted it to caucus Jim asked for no bashing but I did not see where he said we had to agree with everything the catholic contingent says I have tried to speak truth with love but I will speak truth
Stop being so touchy....these threads are fun and interesting...controversy is the very heart of conversation....how very boring would it be to post a fact and have 500 people say ...yup, I agree.
They don’t care if we are “saved” they are care if they win the argument.
Problem is we are winning.
When I was a child and complained that other kids were teasing me, my dear late mother would quote the adage, “Don’t let them get your goat!”
It seems to me that we Catholics need to heed my wise mother’s words. Time and again, I see arguments occur here that could have been avoided by simply ignoring the poster who is questioning to provoke rather than to exchange ideas.
Nobody wins those arguments but the Evil One. It is better for us to pray for those who attack our Faith and not to take the bait.
Just my two cents. God bless you.
Did you really think that an article, by a Catholic apologist, on a topic of significant and complex disagreement, wouldn’t generate conflict? It seems like a no-brainer to me.
First let me express my appreciation to Jim for providing this website. I also appreciate the RMs for the job they do on monitoring this forum and I feel they've done a remarkably decent job in doing so.
Because of this website, I feel I'm more informed on the issues of the day than I used to be.
I've really learned a lot...especially in the religion forum. When you have to defend your beliefs it makes you dig and learn.
I've always thought the purpose of FR was to provide a forum to express ALL ideas without fear of suppression. We see enough of that in the liberal media.
As I noted above, having to defend your beliefs makes you dig and learn. However, it appears some are not capable of doing so.
It seems like we've figured out who can't handle the disagreements with catholicism.
Instead of being able to defend your beliefs you run to the owner and RMs to lock down the thread. And it's not the first time you've run crying to the RM either. I know you've tried to have some of my threads pulled in the past.
The papists of the middle ages would be proud of you. All dissent with Rome must be silenced.
I guess you think this is your personal website for advancing catholicism.
I personally don't have a problem with you posting an article everyday like you do. It's your right to do so.
However, when you do post something not supported by the Word I will respond. It's my right to do so.
If I post something someone disagrees with I expect them to reply if they want to and we'll have a conversation. As the RM has said on more than one occasion....if no one replies to you that's your clue no one is paying attention to you.
I do the same thing in the other forums as that is what this website is all about....expressing your opinion.
You should look to Paul as an example of an apologist. He was always willing to engage in a defense of the Gospel with anyone, anyplace, anytime.
