And I'd suspect you are WRONG!
Folks ONLY get to 'serve' if they get vetted and APPROVED by the folks the US citizens ELECT!
Perhaps one should go read the LCMS response to homosexual marriage and SCOTUS. The president of our synod calls Missouri Synod Lutherans and all believers to prepare to be in defiance of the government...
There was a strong statement by the synod that this piece neglects to acknowledge. Knowing that about my synod, the rest of the data presented is suspect as well.
Are you reading MY mind?
You’ve got to be taught; before it’s too late...
Some get that way AFTERWARD??
Which is 100% of the human race: past, present or FUTURE!!!
So...
...why did it take 142 posts to appear?
Q55: Some people think of themselves as heterosexual in orientation, while others think of themselves as homosexual in orientation and still others feel their sexual orientation lies somewhere in between. How about you?
1. Heterosexual orientation
2. Somewhere in between, but more on the heterosexual side
3. Completely in the middle
4. Somewhere in between, but more on the homosexual side
5. Homosexual orientation
6. Refused
Among all priests, 67% chose #1, Heterosexual orientation, with 73% for those in priesthood 31 to 40 years.
Of those in priesthood 20 years or less 8% chose #4 and 15% chose #5 (page 25).
Other notable findings:
Q41: 63% of all priests said the Catholic laity they come in contact with are going their own way when it comes to moral issues, such as sexuality, marriage and reproduction.
Q43A: 32% of all priests said it is often (versus 53% Always) a sin for unmarried people to have sexual relations.
Q43G: 25% of all priests said it is often (versus 49% Always, and 15% seldom) a sin to engage in homosexual behavior.
Q44A: 57% of all priests favored the ordination of women as deacons.
Q51: 30% of all priests said they were liberal in religious beliefs and moral doctrines, with the highest percentage being 37% choosing middle of the road.
Q52: 34% of all priests said they were politically liberal versus 28% who identified as conservative. 5% said they were very liberal , and 3% said they were very conservative.
Q54: 31% of those in priesthood 20 years or less affirmed that there was a homosexual subculture in the seminary or seminaries they attended. A like number (32%) said they did not think that was the case.
Q56: The majority (47%) of all priests said that Celibacy takes time to achieve and I consider it an ongoing journey.
Q60: 42% of all priests believed that most (versus 19% Many) of recent allegations of sexual misconduct by priests are true.

Of course, that was 2002. May all the abused (and even the guilty if possible) have find salvific repentant faith in Christ to save.
I think we’re watching them finally reap what they sowed for so long.
What’s arrogant to the max is that they presume to be the ones who define what a valid marriage is and that if it’s not a Catholic marriage, it can be considered to never have been valid in the first place.
Like marriage is their idea and their sole domain, that they get to define it and control it.
The waste of energy and electrons relates to having a cause and effect discussion that centers on religious divisions that are centuries old rather than moral certainties that are millennia old. Read the post I was responding to and the first paragraph of the article to get the context. FR is a fine place to have the larger discussion but it breaks down quickly when it becomes a blame game.
They will have their very own Sodom and Gomorrah in the priesthood if they keep this up. Now back to global warming.
.....”In no place are consummated marriages annulled, meaning they did not exist. Even concubines were wives.”......
So annulment is yet “another” tip-toeing around using the word divorce... and so then giving them room to establish their own rules on what is or not grounds for it such as “defective consent”. LOLOL....and so it does go!
....” they get to define it and control it”....
Of course Metmom...that is how they do things. Changing vocabulary, twisting meanings,... and then always establishing long and lengthy explanations to wade through. So they can be pretty much guaranteed most catholics won’t read let alone investigate further. They simply want out of their marriage anyway that it can be acceptable to the church.
.....”.. the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man”....Gen.2
...” from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. ...Mark 10
Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them ‘male and female’....Matt. 19
“..each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.”..1Corn.7
“.. let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”....Heb:13
Amen. But just wait; someone will come along, no doubt, and claim that Adam and Eve were Catholics.
