BREAKING: Pope takes major step toward formal heresy

"I feel like saying something that may sound controversial or even heretical. But there is someone who knows that despite our differences we are one. It is he who is persecuting us. It is he that is persecuting Christians today; he who is anointing us with the blood of martyrdom, knows that Christians are disciples of Christ. That we are one, that we are brothers! He doesn't care if they are Evangelicals, Orthodox, Lutherans, Catholics or Apostolic. He doesn't care! They are Christians."

I agree! That makes sense! It would also eliminate an awful lot of noise, lol...😀 I often wonder about the fish and other sea creatures. Fish can't drown; maybe the water would have been poisoned by all the remains at once, not to mention all the soil erosion making it sludgy. Maybe He just miraculously saved two of each... 🐟🐟 🐠🐠 🐡🐡 🐙🐙 And the two barnacles hitched a ride on the outside!

Good grief. It was a generalization.....not intended to be the full account of Noah.

But hey, if it gets a catholic into the Word, I'm good with that.

Elsie never said that works don’t mean anything. Period. He said they don’t mean anything towards salvation. Different thing. You can try again.

Then why even bring works into the discussion.....????

If the married couple had sex, they are one flesh. God's decision, not ours. Jesus' words stand.

a couple whose marriage was annulled WERE NEVER MARRIED therefore their sexual relations have nothing to do with the one flesh statement.

If the prots on this list are not willing to come out shouting from the rooftops that these men and women are "SAVED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUSSSSSSS!, then why should we believe them.

I want that on record so all can see the utter disdain and contempt you have for the shed blood of Jesus, the very man who died on a cross for all of our sins.

You may want to read Hebrews 10:29.

It is my sincere prayer that you come to know the Man who'm you've just mocked.

Jesus stands ready to forgive any and all sins we've committed. Even mockery.

I will no longer reply to you on this thread. Feel free to have the last word.

The Catholic church NEVER violates God's law We'll just overlook Mary worship.

Catholics worship only God and had been doing so for 16 centuries before a group came along and accused them of not doing so....pathetic.

Perhaps the fault lies at least in part with me. I've been enjoying this afternoon's discussion immensely: exchanging points of view amongst one another with humor and respect for one another's point of view. I quoted Angely in phonetics that reflected his delivery.

Verga's posts are not disrespectful to Our Lord, if you look through them- it was a mimicking of Angely's or another's pronunciation, not an intended insult to Jesus Himself...

How many times have Catholics been castigated for similar "generalizations"?

It is my sincere prayer that you come to know the Man who'm you've just mocked.

The "man" I mocked was every single prot televangelist who takes the Lords name and uses it to pad his pockets.

Anyone with an IQ above room temperature would see that based on: a) Previous posts

b) Context of the entire thread.

c) The previous list and the list where I added Ernesttttt Anngleyyyyy of ugly toupee and polyester suit fame.

I want it on record the disdain I hold for prots that fly off the handle and make ignorant comments.

Don’t be a hypocrite and condemn Christians for judging whether Catholics are saved of not and then demand that Christians judge whether others are saved or not.

What of those who believe that they are saved by faith alone, sola scriptura, and by declaration of that faith. Ealgeone, you stated: On some of the interviews I've seen him on he's been hesitant to declare faith in Christ, and only Christ, as the way to salvation. That statement made sense, according to the beliefs you've stated in forum. The description you gave sounded almost as if he were New Age, which is against what I, and what I think you, believe.

G2G, in his writings, Paul was clear that it is through faith that we are saved and not works. His view of works were those being imposed by the Judaizers that were insisting one had to be circumcised and follow the Law to be saved.....in other words relying upon deeds and rejecting the sacrifice of Christ.

Contrast this with James who wrote that we are justified by works and not faith alone.

Where was James coming from on this?

Recall that both Paul and James quoted the exact same verse from Genesis 15:6, "and Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness."

Let's go back to Genesis to see the progression of Abraham's coming to God.

Pick up Abraham's life in Chapter 15: God had explained to Abraham what His plans were for him. God showed the stars to Abraham and told him to count them, if he could.

Imagine how clear the night sky would have been back then. No light pollution at all. The Milky Way would be perfectly clear. Abraham looked up and saw all of those stars.

Then God told him, "so shall your descendants be."

It was at this point Abraham believed God.

Recall at this time there was no circumcision and no Law.

So what saved Abraham? His faith in God. There was nothing else he could claim at this time.

In the next chapters we see Abraham's life continue. We know he sinned several times, yet not one caused him to be declared unrighteous by God as we see his name in Hebrews 11.

Finally in chapter 22 we see Abraham's faith on full display when he was willing to offer Isaac.....with the full belief that God would somehow restore Isaac and fulfill His promise.

This is expressed in Gen 22:5 when Abraham noted to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go yonder; and we will worship and return to you."

Abraham believed God in this instance.

From James' perspective this is what justified Abraham.

It would have been easy for Abraham to say he believed God....but when God tested him, he proved he had complete faith in God.

Neither Paul nor James expected a believer to just say, "I believe in Jesus" and let that be it. James acknowledged the demons believed "God is one and they shudder"; yet he knew they didn't have a faith that would result in any fruit for the Kingdom. Their's was just an intellectual acknowledgement of who Jesus is.

Paul wrote about the changed life a believer was expected to lead in Romans, and most of his writings.

We are to produce fruit for the Kingdom using the various spiritual gifts God has equipped us with. Some will produce tons of fruit, like Paul, Billy Graham, Sunday School teachers, preachers, etc. Some will produce a little fruit and possibly witness to just a few people in their lifetime.

So from a NT perspective, one comes to Christ through faith, usually after hearing the Word preached....in some cases from just reading the Word.

They are baptized following the example of Christ signifying outwardly what has happened inwardly.

Then we are expected to conform our lives to His standards.

Will we always be perfect in this? Good gracious no.

There's not a Christian in the world who would claim they've done enough or been good enough. They will recognize like Paul that we have a long way to go (Philippians 3:8-14). The call of Christ is summed up in the two greatest commandments. The second one will lead to fruit being produced.

To use a football analogy...we are not expected to sit on the bench once we're on the team. We've gotta be in the game!

Ok, thanks. I always kind of wondered. The only time I ever saw him in action was when Nik Wallenda was crossing at the Little Grand Canyon.
