THE APOSTLES CREED
I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord
At the words that follow up and including "the Virgin Mary," all bow.
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.

First mention precedes catholic church by a few hundred years.
“And having found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And that the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch”
Acts 11:26
The Catholic Church was founded by Christ on the Apostles, the first Bishops.
It’s in your Bible.
JOHN 20
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."
20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
21 Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you."
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."
Rev 2:6
Weird.
I have friends who swear they are not Christians but, Catholic and no matter how gently and eloquently I explain Catholicism, it’s beginning, nature and even John Paul’s letters, they insist they are not Christians.
I don’t get it really. I have always considered Catholics Christians, brothers and sisters of the same family but, they persist in their view.
I wonder why when it is so obvious...
For those who question the bowing during the Creed, it is on commemoration of the Incarnation of Jesus, the Word Made Flesh; God taking on the nature of man. We're not bowing to Mary, although it was through her, by the Power of the Holy Spirit, that Jesus, God, became man. What a grace and a miracle! 💟
Yes. When we read the last Gospel at the conclusion of the Tridentine Mass, we kneel when we read “...and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us”.
