Yes
Do you know how many commands in the NT are optional for a believer?
Does the word CHOICE mean anything?
The "goal" of this Christian is to worship and adore my Savior ... I can never be like Christ ..He was God/man.. He was perfect..
What was it?
How many commands in the NT are optional for a believer?
Warning...John Piper sermons are only for those discerning:)
He did a great job explaining that our Master is Holy
therefore we walk in His footsteps.
All of them. Yep that is right. They belong to the Jews, not gen gentiles at all. See the Jerusalem council for clarification on that...
I see that old lie is still in circulation.
If you don't do (fill-in-the-blank) you won't go to heaven and if you do do (fill-in-the-blank) you will go to hell.
It's based on what a person does or doesn't do, IOW, a system of works, not the mercy of God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Ah!
Some of my FAVORITES!
I always include 11 when showing the SIN of homosexuality.
(Which somehow escaped being in THE LAW.)
9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
If any of the ten commandments are reiterated in the New Testament ... THEN THEY STILL APPLY.
I see SINS, but I do NOT see the FACT of any LAW being there.
You have CHOSEN to be a Jew?
How interesting...
I see that old lie is still in circulation.
Not a lie; just a bit off...
That is because Rome has a self ASSURANCE of works
Oh, you mean like, “I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me nothing to drink”?
That’s the weird thing about Protestantism. It condemns Jesus as a heretic.
All of them. Yep that is right. They belong to the Jews, not gen gentiles at all. See the Jerusalem council for clarification on that...
My friend ... while I have enjoyed your many articles refuting the doctrines of Rome, on this point you are dangerously close to antinomianism.
By seeking to distance yourself from Rome (yes, a good thing) you have focused on one or two passages at the exclusion of all the others. If all the commands in the NT are optional (and the vast majority were written to Gentiles churches) ... then faith toward God is optional ... for that is a NT command.
1 John 2:4 The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
Do you understand what John is saying? He is speaking to Gentile believers. He is addressing the believer who claims to know Him, yet does not keep His commandments. Doesn't sound like His commands are optional. John is saying that if your Christian life is characterized by disobedience to His commands ... you're probably not a believer in Him.
Slaves don't typically get to decide which commands of their master they want to obey.
When the Son of Man arrived, he wasn't a detail kinda guy, but rather spoke in parables fulfilling prophesy.
From a practical point of view, He condensed the Big Ten into just two commandments, but those two contain not just the Big Ten but even more left unspoken but clearly understood by the eyes that do see and the ears that do hear.
From my own point of view, the rules, the Ten Commandments, didn't change at all and we break any of them at our peril and must repent and seek forgiveness in this time of Grace.
"Trust only motion" is a phrase I like as it speaks to, and can be used to reveal, a person's truth.
In other words, actions speak louder than words, they say, and by their fruits we shall know them, as will the angels when it's their time to separate the weeds from the wheat.
The Ten Commandments are what the Big Boss expects from His own and we would do well to suck up to the Boss and follow His Rules.
The Ten Commandments? It's the Law. Learn it. Know it. Live it.
Catholic priests have never learned to rightly divide the word of God ...that is sad
That does not say that one is saved by works does it?
The Sheep were not ever GOATS. the Goats never behaved like sheep
This was a judgment of rewards , not salvation .
Mat 16:27"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father, with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works."
Luke 14:14"For thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just."
(Rev 22:12)"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."
1Peter 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away."
The Goats are condemned , not because they did not work, but because they had never repented and believed
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
They were not sheep because they did the work that God had ordained for them, they did the work because they were the sheep.
Mat 16:27"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father, with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works."
Jesus tells the good people to enter into eternal happiness, and he tells the bad people to enter into eternal fire. This isn't about salvation????????
This stuff about the sheep and the goats is nowhere in the gospel. It’s just man-made Protestant ideology.
It does?
I must take up valuable TIME to DEFEND against this charge!!!
