LifeWay Christian Resources has stopped selling all "experiential testimonies about heaven" following consideration of a 2014 Southern Baptist Convention resolution on "the sufficiency of Scripture regarding the afterlife."
...
The resolution, adopted by messengers to the SBC annual meeting in June, warned Christians not to allow "the numerous books and movies purporting to explain or describe the afterlife experience" to "become their source and basis for an understanding of the afterlife."

Because Jesus loved arrogance.......yeah, right. Go talk to some altar boys.
Nope. Keep trying. Not a Roman Catholic either.
Jehova’s Witness? Mormon?
Nope. Nope.
Well come on bubba - you claim to the way, the truth and so on....so do tell us.
Hope they removed all C.S. Lewis too.......Great Divorce, etc....
Lewis took pains in his introduction to the Great Divorce to remind people that it was a work of fiction, and not to be relied upon for information about the afterlife.
That doesnt fly in this case. This is not the libraries and pulpits and Sunday schools of SBC churches - its in their retail book stores.
So? That doesn't make them any less responsible for what's sold there.
And btw, SBC is often legalistic and pharisaical.
Again, so what?
I’ve read one book about Heaven, and one about Hell - in the past ten years or so. Both were provocative and interesting.
Get rich quick scams are much more honest because they are not using God to make them selves rich.
Okay, but can mere lay people be trusted to read the introduction? Many just zip into chapter one you know......
(just teasing you here......I think we get each others’ points.)
There is still discernment on the part of the reader. I don’t think church leaders should take that away, nor should they claim to have an exclusive on it. We are ALL given the Holy Spirit. ALL.
And sometimes we are led to seek the advice of Pastors, Elders, etc....but not always.
Look, you like the legalistic heavy handed approach. You’re not alone. Good for you. I don’t. I think it’s destructive on net.
By the way, as a private business, I fully support their right to run their business and their product line as they see fit. As a citizen, I support my right to comment on it. But yes, there is indeed an entirely different burden of responsibility between the pulpit and a retail store - but I don’t look at it as necessarily a responsible choice to limit the options frankly.
I think, as do many, that such an attitude drives many people away from God, further from God. WWJD? Not be a pharisee. Not be legalistic. You know, the first person given the incredible place in eternity of being the first person to see the Risen Christ was.....wait for it......A PROSTITUTE. Jesus kicked over the tables of who? THE PROFESSIONAL DENOMINATIONAL CLASS.
Just sayin......
My denomination does not save me, don't know where you are getting THAT from.
From your post that indicated there was a denomination in the book of Acts.
People need to be very skeptical about these "back from the dead" experiences. They are not biblical, and what if someone came back and said, "Jesus told me in Heaven that everyone is supposed to do what Obama says. He is my chosen vessel to bring forth righteousness!"
Exactly.
Outside of Jesus, only a handful of people in the Bible were raised from the dead, most of the by Jesus. Not a one of them are recorded as saying anything about the experience, and passed on to death again. Enoch and Elijah are even rarer outliers, who also did not come back to tell us about the experience.
The one we follow is Jesus, the "πρωτότοκος εκ νεκρών", who rose, never to die again.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.(Romans 6:5 ESV)
Jehovas Witness? Mormon?
Dude?
As a citizen, I support my right to comment on it. But yes, there is indeed an entirely different burden of responsibility between the pulpit and a retail store - but I dont look at it as necessarily a responsible choice to limit the options frankly.
And if Lifeway is an operation run by some part of the SBC, the SBC's got responsibility for what goes on there. It's not all that different from "porn's bad, y'know, but ..."

They're not saying "you can't buy this". They're saying "we won't sell it." Different thing entirely. Confusing them is a thing the liberal fascists might do.
Like I said, Amazon's still open, 24/7, for those that need their fix of fanciful tales. And you don't even need to get dressed to shop there.
There is.
I’m not saying it is mine or anyone elses.
All I am answering is your claim there are no denominations in Scripture.
AMEN!
