A novena (from Latin: Novem, meaning Nine) is an institutional act of religious pious devotion in the Roman Catholic Church, often consisting of private or public prayers repeated for nine successive days in belief of obtaining special intercessory graces.

Faith doesn't need guarantees! Just because she isn't God, doesn't mean she can't hear me. People who now exist in eternity, as opposed to time, possess an awareness they could not when on earth.
God bless you!

Are you saying that main point in praying to Mary is just to perform a “institutional act of religious pious devotion”?

“... she never committed even the slightest transgression.”
So you’re saying that not only was Mary born without sin, but that she never sinned in her entire life?

What do you believe it's like when an immortal soul no longer has a body, and no longer needs to depend on senses that fail; reason that fails with age; a body that is old and debilitated? The soul lives on, and is capable of so much more! It is with its God, awaiting the Final Resurrection. Would the soul not know more than the intellect, which depends on the senses, may perceive?
God bless you!

Psalm 13:3
Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
Psalm 90:5
Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death they are like the new grass of the morning:
Daniel 12:2
Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
John 11:12-13
His disciples replied, Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better.
Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52
Listen, I tell you a mystery:
We will not all sleep, but we will all be changedin a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
Ephesians 5:14
This is why it is said: Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.
1 Thessalonians 4:13
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

Elsie, it's my Church and I worship God through its teachings. I believe. To one who doesn't believe, it's not going to make sense. Faith is believing what the senses cannot perceive. Nothing's going to change that for me.
As for proving it, I don't need to, to anyone. I just don't like the way my Faith and it's most important tenets are mistreated, and I choose to state my beliefs.
When one does so in a polite manner, an interesting discussion may ensue. That's basically why I tried FR in the first place.
God bless you!

Very complex. Try the Vatican website, or EWTN. Those are the two sites I use the most.

Mark 7:28 She replied and said to him, Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the childrens scraps. 29 Then he said to her, For saying this, you may go. The demon has gone out of your daughter. 30 When the woman went home, she found the child lying in bed and the demon gone.
God bless you!
